It's an ok price but I'd rather pay 10 quid more for 8gb more storage and a reliable and faster drive from Samsung or crucial. Think the 120 vs 128 skews the initial price vs space
Love the look of the drive itself, very tempted too as it's performance is pretty good. I'll probably wait until it's really 50p/GB then I'll bite.
The other thing putting me off is the apparent crash these are still in. I'd kick myself if a bought one and then come Monday all the other similar drives have dropped by £10's as well.
Yeah, the same reason why I've not pulled the trigger on any SSDs. My PC usage has been getting lower and lower so I think I may actually wait for a 256GB SSD to drop to £100 (if that ever happens) and I'll jump on it and use it as my only drive or something like that.
Maybe the etailers need to do some price-fixing to make it appear there is some stability. :p
Sammy 830 can be had for £77 from ebuyer, which is £0.60/per gig vs this at £0.54 per gig.
Wow. These are now getting affordable. 4 of these in Raid 0.... and then my dreams can come true...
Well, dreams ish...
Just waiting on an Samsung 830 512GB to become £300~. Then I can finally migrate to the solid side. I presume the next gen will hit the limits of SATA 3?
Time to upgrade my 80GB INtel SSD. Hopefully, can sell that for same price as this MUAHAHAHAH
Indeed, i meant around £10, £12 is nothing when we are talking data reliability and performance of this kingston is on the low side as its meant to be the cheaper end of sandforce. Or you could grab a crucial M4 which is £74.50 :).
I held this long before upgraded my space but i really ended up having nout left, if they get cheaper they get cheaper its good in the long run but its cheap enough for me :D i dont use that much space! My personal opinion is that it wont drop much further maybe like the M4/830 128gb at £130 (instead of £140) because 1. the high end ones cost more to make 2. the big companies are only doing this to weed out the small newcomers 3. they dont want another ram market i.e make nothing when its mainstream!
Sandforce is plagued with errors and bugs so i'll stick with Plextor, Samsung and Crucial
Have ordered one now. Reviews look good. Speeds are impressive as well.
