This looked awesome - until I realised that you can't actually specify folders to backup other than the default folders.

Actually it probably is awesome - and for most users this is exactly what they need. For others I wonder if it's sensitive to NTFS junctions etc because with some careful manipulation it could be re-purposed..
It isn't, from blog, a full backup solution but it would provide a very easy way for someone to backup photos to a stick/external drive without much knowledge.

So this is basically Time Machine then, though without the any folder business. It sounds like something Windows sorely needs, 99% of people don't have files outside My Documents anyway. Those who worry about backing up files from other locations will probably know what to do anyway or will have dedicated RAID setups, etc.

Nobody uses windows backup when they can use nicer/friendlier/more techie apps. Glad they aren't throwing out the idea of having something built-in.
