No you're far from being the only MUI naysayer. Although while we're in survey mode, is it me or is there a trend that folks that proudly claim to be developers like Windows8/Metro whilst us less "empowered" folks hate it?

By the way, I mean no disrespect towards Windows developers - it's not your fault that Microsoft keep moving the goalposts!

I'm a .net Windows developer and I hate it myself....

Edit: Am I the only one who thinks MUI is very close to MIUI? (http://en.miui.com/)

    "Modern UI"?

Er Microsoft, do you understand how silly that name will sound in 3 years time?

I think you need another try at naming your UI.

Honestly, if they just enable boot-to-desktop as an option, I'm fine with Metro in place of the start menu(even if I do still secretly hope someone will bring out a 'start menu' destop widget). I just resent having to go through it to get to the desktop (on my desktop - I'm sure I'll love it on a phonoe/tablet with a touch interface).

That's what I was thinking as well. Definitely a cheeky move!

So it's gone from being a name, to being a vague description? That's always useful.

Nah, it'll be fine when it gets dropped/back-burnered for Windows9 and the "Windows Classic" desktop is brought back.
