Nvidia was too busy pushing out 690 and 670 last time I was looking to upgrade in the mid-range segment, and I was desperately waiting for 660 push-out that only came these days, so I had no choice but to opt for their competitor's offerings. It might be due to TSMC not producing enough wafers on latest node, but that's a problem for NV and TSMC to solve, and certainly not us consumers. 660 seems a bit pricey at the moment but might drop to more justifiable price levels soon enough (competition is rather fierce at $250-350 price point) so I'll be looking forward to more compelling offerings in the mid-range with my next builds. I pay a lot of attention to noise and power consumption with my mid-range builds so I'm quite excited in regards to working with 660s and other latest and greatest at ~$250-300. NV still seems to have better designed products than AMD, and their OEMs seem to be offering better quality in general (my experience, not necessarily rule of thumb), but frankly, I'm no particular fan of either. All I want is great products at great prices. Don't we all? :)
Well, not at current prices, but that is kinda moot since I won't have any money until next month anyway. But by then the 660 non Ti won't be far away and there may have been price cuts on the 7800 series too. It's a wait and see for me. It would fit my needs very nicely if it was a few quid cheaper.
Naw, my GTX 460 is still doing the job.

Its pretty average, Nvidia knew what they were up against (7870) and still haven't really made a huge dent at all... the review you just did for the gigabyte superoverclocked 660 which was £287 is silly, graphic card purchases are heavily reliant on the games you play but if we just compare it to the powercolour 7870 overclocked version they are both 50/50, but the 7870 still uses less power (I seem to recall everyone praising how amazing the power efficiency of the 600 series was... seems its pretty much average if that now,in the market that power is important the mid range.) and it costs £228 at scan right now! almost £60 cheaper which is quite substantial.
I was on the look out for a card to retire my gtx460 but it seems there isnt really anything cheap to kick it, the high end just doesnt seem to tickle my fancy yet and so I am firmly set to wait out till the 8000/700 series are out, or atleast buy something like the 7950 when its EOL for £100 (*prays*)

I am very dissapointed in the 660, I am in the market for a new graphics card and had my eye on the 660Ti to upgrade from my 9600GT (which will be quite the jump). But looking at the stats and the price I now find myself wondering whether or not to go for the 7870 which is cheaper or go for a 7950 which is about the same price. The 7870 is about level in performance for the main part with the 660 but the 7950 seems to best it except in things like 3DMark (Big Deal).
I have no interest in running multiple monitors, in fact currently I am still using my 6 year old 19" Videoseven flat screen at 1440 x 900. I am going to change my monitor in the next few months but that is likely to be to either a 23 or 24" at 1080p.
