lol, 1tb/s is totally pointless when write rates haven't surpassed 1gb/s yet.

An SSD or a modest RAID array of mechanical drives will easily saturate 3x1gbps links bonded together.

The only real use for something like this would be for server farms/data centers.

That's where all new networking developments are intended for.

Already using 802.3ad link aggregation at home but running multiple cables to every device is a no-no, so it's selectively used
I regularly max out the 1GBps links and as the average speed of storage devices and data-set sizes increases, so will the amount of time I am maxed...

Yeah that's my point though, no point saying 'well I don't have a use for it in my home', you wont get to play with it for 10 years anyway.

Yup thats exactly what I meant, I was agreeing with you . We will always find a way to max this out in the home but just in along along time!
