The problem is that unlike others, apple has always had a very small product line which all look and are packaged similar.
(so much for "think different" )

So for instance apple moves its entire line to an aluminium look, and sudddenly all other aluminium computers/laptops are thought of as apple clones - despite apple rarely being the first at anything.

Same with packaging etc - any other company might package a few of its products in a similar glossly manner (before apple),
but the public only see that apple package all its products like that, so think of it as an apple feature.

Its good marketing, but wouldn't necessarily work for other companies.

Thanks for the graphic - although I remain to be convinced because (nit pick mode on) the Samsung icons are all a variant of the same base. And that base model not only has shading (that the Apple icon - being a 2D pictograph - lacks), but also is more vertically oriented than the Apple equivalent. Also - with the exception of the Galaxy S - there is none of the banded shading that the Apple icon exhibits. The Apple icon also uses a more obvious rounded corner than the Samsung equivalents.

So, it's broadly similar, but not even remotely close to identical. Also the green colour is pretty much industry standard for the call initiator - e.g. the old Nokia 6310i that I have lying gathering dust uses that scheme - green for start call, red for end call.
