MHL support - Thats nice to see. I've used it via a little adaptor and my LCD tv and its really useful. Glad to see more people taking it on board.

Ah yes, that's what we need - wider monitors...

Well the Philips professional 27in PLS display looks nice - good resolution etc but i'm seriously tempted by the dell:

..which is priced very well.
I'm contemplating having more pixels now i've gone SLI but i'm nervous about the hit in driving so many.

Some prices would be the cherry

I'm really glad IPS for masses is finally taking off, so we can see the screen normally from all angles. More IPS monitors please!! :)

And we need this aspect ration for what exactly? Unless you're purely going to watch films, I can't see why anyone would want something like this?

Actually that 27" one looks pretty interesting, mostly because of the dual-input bit! Get a bit of Synergy on the go and Bob's your Uncle!

Good to see things moving forward at least, really I'm just looking forward to higher density 16:10 10-bit panels.

It's really a productivity thing, I use multi-monitors to multitask, so I guess the 21:9 is aimed at that, look at the product shots, they're not targeting film lovers.

Philips made a line of 21:9 TVs a few years ago which really failed to take off. Maybe they invested too much in the technology to write it off and now they're aiming it at PC markets.

I think for gaming it could be quite useful gives you a greater FOV.
Re: News - Philips UltraWide 21:9 monitor to premiere at IFA 2012
27", 21:9......that actually sounds pretty awesome. I could probably drop one of my dual monitor setups for that.
Now just add in a curved screen and that would be beautiful. Heck...make it borderless and I'll buy two of them :D
Re: News - Philips UltraWide 21:9 monitor to premiere at IFA 2012
Are those ultra-narrow bezels just for the fashion? I find it hard to believe they are for multi-screen gaming. You can't go 3 x 27" without super-sizing your desk and that much mood lighting might prove to be a tiny bit too much even for a hardened mood junkie.
I'd be up for a set of 3 in a smaller size with ultra-narrow bezels on all four edges. Control could be a single remote to change settings. Nice if the stand was swivel and height adjustable.
Re: News - Philips UltraWide 21:9 monitor to premiere at IFA 2012
Why does 2,560x1,440 look to be 21:9 aspect? There is something wrong with the spec. for the professional 27in PLS display. Dells 27" 2,560x1,440 monitor doesn't look ultra wide like this one does.
Re: News - Philips UltraWide 21:9 monitor to premiere at IFA 2012
Vizio has a 58". I guess Philips can still claim they have the first 29" one though. Yay?

..because the resolution is 2,560x1,080 - see the article there's a number of monitors with different resolutions :)

That's what I was going to say earlier, but if you look at the bottom of the article, there is a second 21:9 monitor for professional use that claims to have a 2,560x1,440 resolution. I searched a little and it appears that either that is right or the Philips press release is inaccurate as those numbers are used elsewhere as well.
I didn't post because I didn't have a complete answer :)
