It looks brilliant, but maybe a bit to deep for my pockets, in more ways than one!

camera news is interesting, a very different approach to the 808 by focussing on low light performance and video stability rather than increased detail the ability to zoom, the white paper is worth a read. I suspect working in the 41mp sensor would have had many ramifications, probably ruined the design and also not been a great idea for say some of the augmented reality stuff.

I suspect nokia will mix and match the various innovations they get over time, but I would expect this camera to be pack leading although probably not ahead of the 808.

I don't get it - what more can you expect from the smartphone at this stage? Decent design - tick; vibrant screen - tick; newest OS - tick; user friendly - tick; GPS navigation that actually works - tick; decent camera performing even low light - tick; wireless charging (wait what? oh ok..) - tick. Was someone expecting more? If so what was that more? I would gladly trade my SGS3 for Nokia 920 and probably will when its out. I am tired of mediocre Google Navigation. Give me back my Nokia maps and throw in full Office files support. Oh wait, it's all in 920!

if i can get one for free on a £20 a month contract with o2 i`ll try it

The 920 looks really nice... until you see that the ability to remove the battery, and the SD card slot from the 820 have mysteriously disappeared!! These are two features I would really want to see on the flagship device...

Because they've gone for the svelte one piece design that stuff goes out the window. Although with 32 gb I see little reason for an sd card slot

it's a bit strange missing the SD card on the dearer model, so the cheaper model can overall have more storage

Yes, it's a good launch IMHO. There are only a couple of things that I would change, like Gorilla glass on the 820 and a MicroSD on the 920.

With Apple launching next week, on the pricing front, maybe Nokia and Microsoft are holding back for the moment, as it is the main factor that can really turn heads after the iPhone 5 launch.

Agree totally - and I can't help thinking that these folks are also in for a little bit of further disappointment when iPhone5 launches (because it's "evolution" rather than "revolution" too).

Nokia Maps was good - ALK CoPilot is better than Google Maps, then again you have to pay for it whereas GM is free. ;)

Unless the OS doesn't support it, then I think you'll find folks trying larger cards. XDA has got plenty of postings about people shoving 64GB cards into phones that are only rated for a lot smaller. And while I can live with no removable/upgradable memory, the non-removable battery on the 920 is a "fail" as far as I'm concerned, so if I feel like jumping from Android to WP8 next year then it'll be the 820 for me.

@Roobubba I know what you mean with no removable battery I have seen on some of the previous lumia models the ones with out removable batteries is that when the OS completely freezes and the hardware buttons don't respond you have to wait for the battery to die in order to be able to use it again. That is my only gripe with this phone is the non removable battery. Although i do think that they are trying to aim at two different markets here with these phone models as one is not a good in certain aspects which is why you have the ability to upgrade parts and change bits where the other is a complete package but heck the prices could be quite the same so we shall see.

I'm not sure I believe what your saying if honest, because that behaviour would be a hardware fault.

There is a so called 'WatchDog Timer' that runs on the windows phone, if after 30 seconds the UI thread hasn't been able to clear it (ie its crashed) the phone automatically reboots. You also have an interupt reset on the power button if held for 10 seconds or more.

The problem with a non removeable battery is if you want to keep your phone for years, the battery will degrade, if you want to keep a spare you can't just fit one in your wallet. The latter used to really bug me, until I started carrying a cheap USB power thingie, great for kindle/tablet/phone.

You need more than 32GB on your phone? Wowsers, you are the music collection procrastinator!

Can't remove battery and it runs out on you? So carry a portable charger thingy, they are good for any gadget after all, so it's kinda a better solution than a battery in your wallet anyway.

Battery life ran down after long ownership? Well if this happens I suspect you'll be buying a new phone soon anyway for other reasons - LiIon batteries are better than they used to be as well.

These things seem like minor gripes to me. The 920 looks like a good phone, I'm still looking at the Galaxy Note II but such massive things aren't for everyone. The next iTat looks like being a minor evolution (good article on Anandtech a week or two ago) and Samsung/HTC/Motorola have revealed their hands mostly so the holiday season is probably there for the taking with the right marketing,

You don't need more than 32GB on a phone. I have 32GB on my tablet and took it for a two week holiday packed with films and music and had plenty of space for downloading photos off my camera.

If you need more than 32GB for music then you clearly need to get more organised with your data.

Removable battery is not an issue either. What percentage of people with smart phones actually carrier a second battery in case their primary battery goes flat..., I bet less than 1%, with micro usb charging port you've plenty of options to charge the battery on the go.

Try looking at the spec for the Galaxy S3, where MicroSD capacity alone goes up to 64GB. The 920 can record in video 1080p @ 30fps which will use a lot of space. This is before any other data stored is taken into account.
