I'd like to see Apple's suppliers not exploiting their workers. I'm not going to buy any Apple products unless that happens.
My iPhone 4s cracked on a carpet drop, my best mates cracked front and back while in a case, my daughters cracked on the back (albeit a nasty drop onto the pavement) You can see how many companies there are out there doing iphone 4 screen repairs. Its an industry.
All that said, they are nice phones...
What I want to see in the new phone would be a lighter design, much longer battery life, 20day standby at least, a drop in price and a complete overhaul of iOS. remove the reliance on itunes and a massive increase (250+gb storage) for years we have had 16/32 gb - I want more, more, more
Can't let this one go - I fully agree that their suppliers should not exploit their workers.
That said, Samsung suffer from the same problem, as do HTC, and I would expect most major technology companies that outsource their work. So really, you are very limited in terms of what smartphone to get...even Nokia will suffer from the issue to some degree, with their Lumia range being manufactured mostly in China (although some other non Windows phones are still made in Finland).
Another agreement here.
It's a harsh truth that the only way we can enjoy the product at a reasonable price and the companies still make a decent profit is by utilising under paid and over worked people, usually in Asia.
I would pay more for the knowledge that the staff were treated better, but I wouldn't sacrifice features.
The sad truth is most Apple fans with more money than sense couldn't care less about the poor souls building their shiny new gadgets.
How about putting pictures of the sweatshops on the walls of your stores Tim? Think people will be happy parting with their cash then?
Interests: kicking the ass of technical problems and gaming.
I used to put my phone top side up, but have since switched top side down. I started doing that after a friend noted that you do not need to turn the phone when taking it out of the pocket that way and I can't say that I am too worried about the power button pressing. Well, as I am not too worried about having to turn the phone either (though for the more clumsy, it might reduce the chance of dropping the phone by 0.01% ), so was I using this phone as a music player (am not presently, due to the limited capacity of my current device) I'd probably carry using it top side up.
So moving the headphone jack actually works for me (the iPhone 5 will have the capacity I need to use as a music player so it is something I'll keep in mind). BUT, I am quite confident that I would be able to adjust the way I insert my phone inside my pocket almost instantly (it was a lot easier than I thought). One thing I will add is that while I am not sure how often the power button has been accidentally pressed, but it has not been enough to be noticeable.

While it doesn't excuse Apple (though, I quote: "Foxconn, the Apple supplier targeted by human-rights activists after the suicides, has cut working hours and improved safety at a faster pace than it was required, the Fair Labor Association said in a report last month."), as already mentioned, issue unfortunately goes beyond Samsung as reported in the article, or Apple / Foxconn.
Do you care enough about the poor souls to do without any shiny new gadget?

A very good article form the BBC on the new Iphone 5. Does sum it all up very well IMO, and id be keen to hear the views of people supporting Apple & who are set up to buy the Iphone 5!
Interesting (if very biased!) viewpoint from that journalist - although its obviously all opinion alone.
I disagree with much of what he says, and as for lack of excitement...well time will tell when we see how long the queues are.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter, I am excited about the new phone as are millions more, looking forward to the reveal tonight and launch next week
What would I like to see?

Written to provoke (as mentioned) and generate hits. The opposite is this: http://www.zdnet.com/why-the-iphone-...ory-7000004024
I think that both make controversial claims just for the hits, and I disagree with many statements on both sides.
Waterproofing, as this would put pressure on other manufacturers to do the same, though I've heard Nokia have already been developing this for sometime.
So..announcement over (a bit earlier)
Sounds good to me - pretty much exactly what we expected which is good news, no big surprises Plus official confirmation that it supports LTE on the 1800 band so I'll be able to use it on Orange/EE.
Fingers crossed I can get a pre-order on friday now..if I am lucky all the bull..rubbish about the iPhone 5 not being popular will be true and I wont have a problem.
maybe somthing that wont break as easily and is water resistant. Also maybe 4g support.
