there have been great hardware releases by Android handset makers such as HTC and Samsung to encourage people to buy into the Android platform
I'd say mid-range smartphones in the likes of Sony Xperia U (great device for the asking price BTW if a bit too... khmmm tongue-in-cheek funky for the stronger gender) and HTC One V account for a lot more activations than "great hardware releases", but we-hey, talking about the latter sure is more fun, innit?

Pretty sure Samsung and HTC are selling a lot more units than Sony. They make entry level devices too after all; "great releases" doesn't specify high end, although I think the Samsung Galaxy is the best smelling smartphone in the UK anyway, so they might as well have and they'd still be correct.

Well, I wasn't trying to say the article was wrong in any way, or that it was written awkwardly, just trying to point out entry level smartphones still smell in numbers that would surpass those of their bigger, better brothers. Obviously Samsung also has many good devices in that price range, as well as many other producers. And each of them counting as another Android device that has been activated. Regardless,... it was your typo that really made my day! (Which reminded me to dig up those Not the Nine O'Clock News DVDs!! )
