A rather misleading statement for yet another misleading Apple claim.

Oh dear.. iPhone fail. I especially enjoy the bit where you can't make a phone call and use 4G.
Re: News - Apple iPhone 5 4G to work ONLY on Everything Everywhere
I take it that it can still do data + voice calls on non-CDMA networks like here in the UK? Or is LTE CDMA even over here?
Re: News - Apple iPhone 5 4G to work ONLY on Everything Everywhere
Who Sir, Me Sir, Surprised Sir, No Sir!
Re: News - Apple iPhone 5 4G to work ONLY on Everything Everywhere
Wow, have Apple really dropped the ball this much? :O With them scrimping this much can they still qualify their premium pricing compared to their competitors?

Sorry, I've removed this as it's misleading, we haven't confirmed yet if this also applies to GSM + 4G. *edit* no it doesn't.

So in the US, 4G users can't phone and use 4G at the same time, but here they can?
Re: News - Apple iPhone 5 4G to work ONLY on Everything Everywhere
I agree that this is another reason why the iPhone 5 is going to fail badly, but is it entirely Apples fault? or is it the fault of of people like 02 for using a non-standardised frequency?

Yes, that's it.
Re: News - Apple iPhone 5 4G to work ONLY on Everything Everywhere
And the iChumps will still lap it up.
This. Is. Glorious.

Using just one frequency band comes with plenty of problems, including interference and poorer signal; for example, lower frequencies work better indoor or in built-up areas as they're attenuated less then higher frequencies by obstacles.
It's not a 'non-standard' frequency at all, just Apple have chosen to use a single band radio to save costs.

given that `officially` 4G hasnt rolled out yet , and EE are simply retasking the frequency they allready have the licence for - who`s fault is that?

LTE services will use the 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2.6GHz bands
currently only EE will be using `their` 1800mhz frequency
Re: News - Apple iPhone 5 4G to work ONLY on Everything Everywhere
Germany already has 4G, and uses the same bands we do/are planning to (800,1800,2600MHz). So it not being rolled out/standardised yet is no excuse.
Re: News - Apple iPhone 5 4G to work ONLY on Everything Everywhere
I'm really surprise to read this. As a long time o2 user, I'm really not going to switch carrier just for the 4G network with EE. Instead I would rather get an android phone and wait for o2.
Re: News - Apple iPhone 5 4G to work ONLY on Everything Everywhere
You never know, it would be a good excuse for them to release the iPhone 54G or something a few moths down the line, which has an upgraded radio and costs twice as much. :P
Re: News - Apple iPhone 5 4G to work ONLY on Everything Everywhere
I wonder if this has something to do with the upcoming legal action from Samsung & HTC with respect to LTE patent infringement. Maybe Qualcom (it's their LTE chip) have said their patent covers that band?
