This sounds like a really powerful device! I wonder what you can do on a quad-core 1.5GHz phone that you can't on a dual-core...
Shame the tablet dock is only 1280x800, but I didn't see the display size, and the bundle price isn't too bad at all. I guess to really make use of the phone's hardware the tablet dock is a necessity.
Only negative is the lack of a micro-SD slot, but it seems to be how things are done these days, to get the upsell up front instead of the customer using far cheaper micro-SD cards to get the capacity they want.
£512 for a super high end phone and tablet (16Gb)...seems pretty reasonable to me. Weird they chose 1280x720 for the phone, but 1280x800 for the pad...hardly any extra resolution given the screen is going to be considerably bigger.
I wonder if this would be more than capable of running something like Battlefield 2, given the amount of RAM it now has....
Great idea, though I do think they missed a beat with the resolution of the tablet.
I might be being ignorant though, but what can the tablet dock do when there is no phone?
Another device showing a Panel made by Sharp - interesting.....
I think you'll need to add an extra £100 to all those prices for in the UK. We seriously get screwed in the UK on price. Some would say VAT but in Germany you can save over 10% on electronics and their VAT is 19% - in Poland things are even cheaper....
799 euros includes 32gb phone and dock
899 euros includes 64gb phone and dock
The Tablet dock uses the same 10.1 in screen as the original PadFone (source Techradar )
Spec's look reasonable, but the lack of upgradable storage and especially that "custom USB connector" mentioned in the article mean that I won't be looking to trade in my S3 any time soon.
That's a shame since I really want to reward Asus for their innovative streak!
I thought that the EU had dictated that all charging devices for phones had to be the slim micro USB!!!
