That is literally the best gaming news I've heard in 10 years.
Just remembering the torture trying to clear enough memory in DOS to run Frontier and the pita lookup page x para y word z security. Neat game world though, would work quite well on a phone/tablet too.
OMG, my belly just fizzed! That's the best news I've heard in many years. All those hours scribbling trade routes... sweating buckets trying to avoid the Thargons... small boys jumpers for goal posts ahhhhhhhh, the memories. If I win that Euromillions tonight Mr Braben you can expect my phone call by the end of the week to make up the shortfall
Woohooooooo
Best news I've heard since the remake of Lords Of Midnight (sadly marred by the death of the original author, Mike Singleton)

A few months ago I started playing Oolite which is essentially Elite for the BBC micro. Brought back memories. There really is a market for a space combat sim that isn't as complex as X3.

Can't wait...same as everybody else I guess

hot damn
Pledged. Elite was a defining part of my youth and I have always said I would gladly donate to revive it properly. I really hope this gets the full backing, the only thing is the majority of the Internet denizens out there are too young to even know what Elite was. It's just something their Dad mumbles about when the kids are trying to play a console game.
Don't let us down Braben, don't you dare.
I like the idea, butttttt I do see Eve as being the successor to Elite and Frontier.
This has been the game I have wanted the most for over a decade.
More excited by this than if they announced new half life.
Think I shall be donating.
Frontier sucked most of my early to mid teens away.
(i love the note from braben that elite was smaller than an email, I hope he can code it as efficiently again).

This was the first PC game I ever played back in 1986, myself and my brother have reminisced so many time about it. So glad that this is might go ahead. I will diffidently be donating.
