My problem with printers is the pricing. My current is a Canon and cost me £36 from Argos complete with inks. Now I don't do a lot of printing so the last set of inks lasted about 10 months. To replace the inks it currently costs £28 so I didn't...I flogged the old, barely used printer (complete with box etc) for a tenner and buy a newer tech wireless printer for £34 complete with inks which no doubt will last about 10 months.
I would pay more for a printer and keep it longer if the price of inks were lower but printer companies think that we will all stick with them if the unit cost is the lowest as opposed to the inks. I certainly won't but I maybe an exception.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.
