Googling for your online banking doesn't sound like a very good idea, all it takes is a change in ranking or a redesign to be potentially entering your details into the wrong site. And yes, people really are that stupid; when Google started putting 'breaking news' at the top of search results loads of Facebook users that search for the login ended up clicking on a Readwriteweb.com article about Facebook and then complaining about the redesign! I'm happy to announce that I didn't google any of those terms. I have no idea who April Jones is, and no desire to know.

Well thats a poor attitude, I didnt know who April Jones was until I just googled it and it appears she is a 5 year old girl who has been missing for a few months now... didnt know about that and its nice to know alot of people were looking into it.

Thats not sad at all... and tbh when was it considered sad to search anything? Maybe you like the song? Its one of the few dancy tunes that I dont feel the need to kill myself while hearing on the radio or something :P.

Absolutely agree, either we're the most Puritanical nation on earth or those results are the cleaned up version. I honestly can't believe that Gary Barlow gets in the top 10 but any thing sexual does not.

I actually googled Gangam style last night!

Been eharing it all the time but didnt know what it was. Watched the music video on youtube and then I realized, hang on .. I have already seen this video!

Because it was based on actual searches, not what Google wanted to be number one? :P

That said, I've obviously heard of "Gangnam Style", but I've never felt the inclination to check it (or even any parodies based on it) out and don't really have any plan to either.

Based on experience, I'm fairly confident that the no.1 search term was "Google".

So, more and more in the state of being everywhere-at-once? I'm pretty sure ubiquity is not a continuous variable. Yes I'm a grammar nazi (and yes this is not a technically a grammar issue) but only as I'm sad that words like ubiquity are losing their potency...

It's like the dilution of the word unique - something is either unique or it isn't. It can't be 'quite unique' or 'very unique' as I so often read. Nor can it be more or less ubiquitous.

Olympic games official website was extremely easy to navigate with all the relevant links included in the contents. In contrast, the FIFA website is one of the worst to find sought after information with loads of distracting and non-relevant information displayed on any page. I wonder how many Google hits were made due to that and the search engine simply used to easier navigate and find relevant information? It would be interesting to see these results compared to unique page views of the websites mentioned.

I'm also glad to say that i didn't search for any of the top 10 :D
