    I know that about 10MP the lens and sensor size are what matter more, but this is probably still going to help sales as it'll allow a bunch of new SKUs.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    So people still fall for the megapixel boondoggle? To think what they could do with this technology, and they waste it on this...

    Re: News - Toshiba launches 20 megapixel CMOS image sensor

    “Continued advances in the resolution offered by compact digital cameras - now in the range of 10 to 16MP - have brought with them the challenge of improving performance and picture quality with smaller pixels. The TCM5115CL does just this by achieving a 15% improvement in full well capacity - the amount of charge an individual pixel can hold before saturating-against Toshiba's previous generation 16MP sensor (pixel size = 1.34μm)”.
    That sounds like they've improved dynamic range - but no mention of low-light performance. Really it's time pixel binning was routinely introduced.

    Somehow 'backside illumination' just sounds awfully wrong.... I might be the only odd one out though...

    I agree. My backside does not need any additional illumination. The sun already shines from it ;-))
