Is firefox a bit more stable now? I used to be pretty happy with it but have since moved on to chrome due to firefox being an unstable memory hog.
Chrome has become a bit of a memory hog itself.

Firefox feels pretty stable - 37 tabs across two windows is using about 300Mb or RAM... with Adblock plus addon installed there's no ads, even on youtube and 4od too!

4 tabs open: > 250MB memory used. And I don't have flash installed, either. Although that seems to have dropped ~ 40MB since I upgraded from 17 to 18...
That said, Chrome has 6 tabs open and looks to be using > 400MB. You don't seem to be able to get a browser that doesn't hog memory any more...

Looks like you haven't used Firefox for the last 7 or 8 versions. The first memory issues were fixed on version 7, but most major noticeable fixes came in around Firefox 10.
