I would imagine that with all the spats between Apple and Samsung they'd love to switch production to TSMC. Easy headline news that one...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
Didn't stop SA paywalling it for 30 days...
Still, I wonder if they'll try to completely switch production to TSMC in one generation, which is potentially risky, or keep Samsung as a supplier for some lines, at least for a while. Having two independent fabs would in theory be safer, but I think TSMC give preferential treatment to exclusive customers.
I respect TSMC as a company for refusing to accept Apple and Qualcomm's offers to secure exclusive access, although besides ensuring better competition, it probably does make more business sense to not have all your eggs in one basket.
