Despite its 10.1-inch screen it’s thinner than the Apple iPad mini.

Now this is really beginning to tick most of the boxes for a tablet that I would consider buying. Interesting to see where this leads!

Seems nice, but after Samsung's tasty debut at CES I'm waiting for the new bits and bobs to come around.
Re: News - Sony unveils the 6.9mm thick Xperia Tablet Z
should really be running 4.2 imo, looks nice though. Couldn't care less about its thinness mind

But it's 6.9mm damnit! not 7mm, 6.9!
Don't you realise every time you say something like that, somewhere a marketing executive loses his wings. Or something like that...
Re: News - Sony unveils the 6.9mm thick Xperia Tablet Z
Is it going to be Sony pricing as well? (ie very high) I expect this to be priced around iPad territory.
I'm not a fan of Sonys Android updates though. Still would prefer a Google Nexus device JUST so one can update easily.

Sony are a premium brand, so you'd have thought so.
Agree about nexus devices, but tbh with all the different ROM's you can get these days, an unlockable bootloader would be okay for me.

Oooh now that I want!! :D It does indeed tick all the boxes for me (except for price I imagine! :P )

:D Going to agree with Biscuit - while a lighter device is desirable to me, a thinner one isn't. Especially when - as you point out - you're talking about fractions of a mm. After all, don't most people these days stuff their tablets in cases, which adds bulk?
Personally speaking I think the Note 10.1 is about right in terms of thickness, although a little lighter would be nice

Sony claim that they learned a hard lesson from the Xperia update debacle. Certainly in recent months they've been making encouraging noises about being a bit more on the ball with updates. Now if they can move from the current "edge" designs to a more curvy one then they might get me back as a customer - when I've finished paying for my S3. I really liked the design of my old X10 but the latest Xperia's are too uncomfortable to hold.
As to pricing, it's Sony, so you can guarantee that they'll take the price of a comparable product and add 10-20%. :p
Re: News - Sony unveils the 6.9mm thick Xperia Tablet Z
Now if only they could explain why they're trying to shove 15 inch laptops with 1366*768 down our throats.

I loved holding my X10 in my hand too. That was a very comfy phone to hold. It was also extremely stable. Think I'll wait and see if they keep current hand sets up to date and if so maybe I'll replace my note with a Sony at upgrade time... (Assuming they do a phone with a large enough screen!)

I agree - if the display resolution has become so important for these tiny tablet screens, why cant they make a decent res screen for laptops?

Sony got they groove back.
