    Yup, thanks.

Mainly due to an understading boss that lets me do pretty much as I please.

    On the whole, no.

I like enjoy what I do but I really loathe that the amount of business travel it entails.

Student and enjoying it at the moment.

What I think is important for job satisfaction is autonomy and an understanding boss, difficult to feel good when you have little control over how you do your work and things are made worse by a boss that doesn't care about your perspective.

    Suck up!

Yes. For me, job satisfaction is the right balance of sufficient challenge to prevent boredome without unreasonable pressure. Plus, working on something that you are interested in to start with is a big plus.

He's got quite an ego though, dont ya think

Honestly i don't know how to answer that, sometimes i love it and sometimes i hate it. I have told myself that at the very least, i need to get CVs out to other jobs this year, go to some interviews and at least see what else is out there, put the feelers out, ya know?

I basically went from uni straight into a well payed job with decent prospects, however the location of the office is quite limiting for a single person my age with the kind of tastes i have. On top of that, im finding myself increasingly worried at the direction the management and treatment of staff is going. Im finding myself spending very long periods away from home in hotels (im in one right now), which loses its charm rather quickly and often having to work an extra 40% hours on top of what is in my contract with nothing to show for it but a very tired brain and a struggling social life.

I love what i do, i just dont like what i have to do to do it.

Yes, although it would be nice if the economy picked up so I had an excuse for a BIG payrise...

Re: Features - QOTW: Are you happy in your current job?

No I'm far from happy in my current job.

I used to love it, well as much as you can love a job. Great team of people, understanding bosses, stretching goals..... but this has all changed, while my team is basically the same the situation has changed and those great, talented people are now demoralized and also searching for alternative employment. I think part of the problem is I've also achieved everything I set out to do there, and without something to aim for (prospective employers look away now) I tend to become bored, and dare I say it - a bit of a difficult employee at times.

On the flip side, its very handy for me (less than 4 miles away) and I have got some fantastic friends in there.

My aim this year, to find another job - same field, but different employer.

Re: Features - QOTW: Are you happy in your current job?

Not at all happy and worse still it's self inflicted - my old company were looking for voluntary redundancies and the financial package on offer was too good to ignore, especially as I had been approached about the job I am in now just days before the announcement.

The numbers were good, the job I lept into had slightly more money and I assumed would be the same sort of thing...so I left the old place with a decent settlement, took a month off and joined the new place - all good for about 3 months.

During that 3 months I discovered that the job was not as described during the interview, the current customer base is none existent (generating roughly 50% of business compared to last year) and every sale acheived since then has had to start with a cold call - whereas the job should of been 50% account management 50% new business opportunities.

Fortunately, I have a lot of industry experience, so knew where to find new pockets of business and with an strong element of luck, I have managed to stay flat with my sales performance (rather than the steep decline that would happened without the new customers I brought on board) - and my position is secure because of that.

The company lacks a real sales structure, the sales order process is fragmented and my boss is spineless when it comes to challenging/changing/analysing the way we do things.

Overall it's been a horrible and lonely experience, but I am now aware of the type the job I want and am pursuing those opportunities.....the day I hand in my notice will be a massive relief, I am literally hanging on just for the money.

THIS 100% THIS - having followed the salary in current job, I can honestly say this is how I define job satisfaction.

Definitely not at the time, the debt is pretty damn brutal though. Student loans take an obscene amount of money off me every month.
