    I had read plenty of reviews so I was well prepared for lack of apps and it really doesn't bother me (for now). Only thing I'm still getting to grips with is how best to manage podcasts - but in the meantime I can use the Windows Phone Desktop app to just piggy back from my iTunes library.
    Have you actually tried to sync with iTunes yet???? Everytime i tried to do it the software crashed. See my rant here:

    The whole podcast thing was the deal breaker for me and why I've given the phone back to my manager, in the end I really liked the phone & felt I could live with Windows 8 bar the podcast issues and lack of apps.

    Shame really but willing to try WP8 again if Microsoft pull their fist out of their @rses and delivery some major improvements/bug fixes and get some traction in their app store

    The statistic that I find interesting is the 47% of users who have gone straight from a standard phone to the Windows Phone platform. These are people who have been exposed to entry level/mid-range/high end Android phones and iOS for years now, but didn't make the jump. Now there are more options on the table and people are going for WP.

    The main battleground for Windows Phone is with Android, simply due to the size of Androids market share. I don't believe the Android market share is going to keep growing as many expect.

    Am 18 months in to my S GS2 contract, and will be wanting something new come September. Am very on the fence about staying with Android or going elsewhere - my investment in Android apps plays a minor role, although truth be told ive only spend about £50 worth, which is small potatoes in the overall cost of a phone.
    I'm thinking that the Lumia 720, or maybe 820 looks pretty tempting. We will also see if Apple can be bothered to innovate anything at all, and whether or not Android is finally able to become as slick as its competitors (i havent yet seen 4.2 in action, but ICS sorely needs some spit and polish despite being the heralded Next Big Thing for Android 2.3)
    I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.

    I think thou WP might end up been a slight victim of it's own succsess in the lower margin, low end market.

    http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/26/h...-w1-O2-launch/

    A £120 device, which lets be honest here only has the Experia U or something and the HTC Desire C at this price point. Both the latter phones I think are not just bad, but damaging to the desire and experia brand. Whilst most people who own this catagory normally say something along the lines of "its a 3rd of the price of xyz" which is true, but the performance often grinds and it lacks certain core out of the box functions.

    Given that WP7.5 was doing well at the £70 price point last year, I think they could really make some headway in this bottom end market.

    The question comes why would someone buy the more expensive devices, like the 920? Who wants a camera £300 badly? That money would get a sweet proper camera.

    @Spud1 & TheAnimus
    Battery details should be better though - Android allows me to have a shortcut which shows me what has used up my battery and a graph.
    I'm happy with an app that gives me eta to run out of juice... but why is this not built in?

    Android example:

    @GazP172
    Lazy Geek - that better? tbh I spent ages trying to setup access to my WHS2011 server via an app, and was frustrated that it didnt work when I wrote the post.

    I do quite like some parts of it - the overall look is growing on me, but I thought the OS offered more than it did.
    I kinda want to browse my music folder wirelessly rather and then copy and paste rather than using a cable...

    No official dropbox app is a let down - hopefully that comes soon...

    btw @TheAnimus - would be interested in some of the "security research tool" app names...

    Not on Hexus dude

    Besides they are only a google search away, just sadly all missing on WP. Considering back in the day of Net Stumbler, it ran nicely on Pocket PC in 2003 iirc, its sad in a way.

    The andriod battery apps are useful, but they are often just estimates, whilst the total app drain is useful, it does appear to often not predictably tally, thou I don't think I've used that particular app!

    Encouraging is that about 40% of first time smartphone buyers opt for WIndows Phone. Don't expect many Apple-fans to switch, so gaining market share is a long-term process. From current WP-buyers, over 15% switched from Android.
