    Simply put, no. They DO handle server side calculations.

    However they have massively exagerated the effects these have on the game. It would reduce other players effecting you city and visa-versa. Thats it.

    It's also interesting to note that these calculations won't be difficult to introduce into an offline mode using AI cities instead.

    They are worrying about pirates...

    Seems to me they should worry about quality control and delivery of promises.

    It it's current state, pirates wouldn't waste their time - I suppose that makes it a win for EA.

    to be fair i have experienced far worse buggy/broken games.

    the server issues where apparent for what? 1 or 2 days after launch? besides that, what game breaking bugs is there?

    I think you're wrong about that. Crackers like nothing better than to crack difficult games. It took crackers over a year to crack bluray tech, but they persisted. Don't under estimate them.
