As always, it comes down to the price. I'm very much on the fence between the S4 and the HTC One and the accessories could be a deal breaker.

Hmm, I would have thought that the health/fitness stuff and the gamepad addon would have been usable for other phones, including the S3.

Where's the darned wireless charging back for the S3 - they promised that one too at launch.

To be honest, I've got a couple of the "official" Samsung accessories for the S3 and wasn't particularly impressed - they were more expensive and less capable than the best of the third party equivalents.

These phones with replaceable batteries need to have a very small internal battery that allows for swapping out the main unit without shutting down....

Why, just shut down and then replace battery and reboot. It takes about 2 mins? I've not tried it but I reckon if you plug the charger in it wouldn't reboot anyway...

That design for the gamepad sure looks a familiar.... I'm surprised there aren't more mobile accessories out already, there are some I know but they haven't fared all that well so far and I wonder whether these will fair much better. Looks interesting though, could be good.

Because it makes sense not to have to shut the whole thing down to swap a battery... and if I had a charger to hand I would not need to change the battery at all.

I get your point... but seriously, people make such an issue out of removable batteries without thinking bast the obvious use case for that feature.

As someone who seriously considered getting an HTC One X instead of his S3, I'm going to disagree. To me at least, the plus points for removable batteries are:
    1. Ability to switch to larger capacity third-party batteries
    2. Ability to replace a defective battery without RMA, or to replace a battery once it's worn out
    3. Ability to carry a second battery in case of problems. There are charging stations for the S3 that will take a second battery, and these second batteries are lighter, etc than the alternatives

And for me #1 and #2 are the big deal. I've already noticed some fall-off in capacity with my current battery, so I suspect that my S3 will get a new one for it's "birthday".

Beaten to it, a replacement battery is £5 delivered for the S3. WHen I go camping I just take another battery...
