Been considering jumping back to Android, and the GS4 was on my radar, it's now off it.
Just too big for me, and so many features I wouldn't use, think I'm looking at a Nexus 4 or an OPPO Find 5 (big but nicer build).

It does sound awfully familiar, this time last year they were pushing the xs by running all sorts of adverts / competitions (remember the robot hunt) they were promising that they'd learnt the error of there ways in not updating the android version and said they'd even release 4.0.* for the 2011 devices and that although the xs shipped with 2.3.7 that it would be updated to 4.0.* in the next quarter. (it had a march release and they promised update april-june)
The 2.3.7 build was almost flawless just missing ics features. But in updating '11 phones they lost the ball with their new flagship.
They did release the update when they promised just (~7 days to spare) and it contained a raft of new features but it was so buggy many people rolled back (on mine if you used the quick launch camera and went to view a photo you had just taken it rebooted itself) things like the bravia engine were also intermittent.
They fairly quickly released a hotfix that corrected the most annoying bugs and then they released a major update (GB was 6.0.A.3.**, ICS started 6.1.A.0.*** then went to 6.1.A.2.**) by this time the xperia t had come out and they lost interest in the xs.
They have promised that it would be updated to 4.1 and a test firmware is in the wild (6.2.B.0.68, mobile radio doesn't work tho) but im beginning to think i'll never get to use google now on it officially.
It's really quite comical for the first sony phone promising they'd learnt the mistakes from the erricson era the xs was the last phone to receive 4.0 when it was the flagship handset, now it's dated it's going to be the last to receive 4.1
Keylime pie (5.0?) will probably be out before my xs is running a sony 4.1
They have a habbit of starting off one step behind and then forever playing catchup whilst releasing more phones models than they can handle (at least 3 new handsets every 6 months running on completely different hardware it seems)
I don't think so. It's just doesn't have enough new actually useful features to make it worth waiting for S3 prices to drop. If I wanted to spend that kind of money I think I'd rather have the new HTC One
Have an S3, its by far the best phone I have ever used, had a couple of teething problems with the first handset, rebooting constantly etc, 2nd one seems ok, occasional reboot but not sure if thats just a sticky power button (i wear a lot of creams and stuff and things tend to get plastered in it). I have big hands, and its perfectly comfortable, slides into my pockets with no issues. Screen is perfect. Any time i need anything bigger I tether my Nexus 10 to it.
24 month contract does mean tho that its a year from June before I will update, and that will be s5 time.
No, the only Android device I would consider getting, is the next Nexus 7 to tinker about with. For the price of the S4, you could get a very nice tablet, be it Android, iPad or Windows.
Stayed up for the Sammy release, some interesting stuff but HTC One for me, my contract is up in April so been an awkward time with the clock ticking but HTC One is now pre-ordered. Much prefer the build quality and sense interface. Work has seen us evaluating phones also as directors want to move away from Blackberry's to Iphone... after playing with a couple of IPhone 5's I can truthfully say I'm never buying into Iphone yucky OS IMV and not an easy to hold device either I can see why so many get dropped and smashed screen to me does not sit in the hand as easy.
The build quality is always a little offputting
My S2 contract is up for renewal on the 2nd of April. I'm seriously tempted, but may just hang fire for the Note 3. Have a Note 2 as my work phone and it's a lovely piece of kit.
I guess it depends on when the Note 3 is scheduled for launch
I'm still on the Galaxy S1 (i9000), rooted, custom roms etc. I can't really see any point in upgrading even to an S2 or S3...
Person 1 - 'oohh is that the Samsung S3 you have'
Person 2 - 'No its the Samsung S4'
Person 1 - 'Are you sure? It looks exactly the same'
Person 2 - 'No this is better, it has full HD, octo core CPU, eye tracking... hey wake up!
Another flimsy looking plastic slab. These Samsung phones have great specs but dear oh dear they look cheap (I know - they say its special plastic or some nonsense, don't care - looks cheap). If I were buying the next superphone I would sure as hell want it to look and feel super. Perhaps they should have left a few cores out and invested in premium materials and battery development.
Personally I will be sticking with WP. Best UI by a country mile and, since my bank recently launched one, I now have all the apps I need on it.

No, reason's...
Price (RRP) is a joke. THE MAIN REASON.
The contract that come with one is also a joke.
I have no use for a 1080p on a less than 5" display, My PC monitor doesn't even have this PPI.
Plastic (like the SIII) back, fine but where's the quality like HTC use ?
One thing I like is the changeable battery & an External SD card can be use (unlike a lot of new phones around)
If I were to buy any Smart phone atm, it would be the Nexus 4 for £239 !
No, it's far too big... I might be interested if they bring out a S4 mini though... For me 4" screen is the biggest I want to carry in my pocket.
Will def be getting one. My S2 has been bullet proof as has my partners. Before that she had the original galaxy also faultless.
iphone 5 was more expensive at launchPrice (RRP) is a joke. THE MAIN REASON.
you seen any of the latest bleeding edge handset contracts recently? they pretty much are all the same. The contract that come with one is also a joke.
pc monitors is down to cost - you can buy one with 400+ PPI but they are expensive. and there will be people that want 1080p 12 inches from there noseI have no use for a 1080p on a less than 5" display, My PC monitor doesn't even have this PPI.
this i do agree with - HTC feels better build but tbh there not alot wrong with the S3 and its plasticPlastic (like the SIII) back, fine but where's the quality like HTC use ?
^^ cant change the battery on the HTC one and nexus 4One thing I like is the changeable battery & an External SD card can be use (unlike a lot of new phones around)
for its price (its a loss leader) it cant be beat - look at much LG charge in markets without google play store! If I were to buy any Smart phone atm, it would be the Nexus 4 for £239 !
