Cheeky gets, seems a bit of a mark-up...

I just don't see how this can sell well when you can buy a 4GB XBOX 360 for £100 to £125. Granted the games are cheaper on the OYUA but so is the quality. XBOX has its fair share of arcade, casual and retro games.

Didn't think Game would carry these tbh.

Built on android - will it run standard android stuff too ...netflix ?

You might have to root it to get Google Play to work. I read that it has its own Ouya Store to download/buy games from. No idea how many standard Google apps are available from it.

Because the Ouya is a lot smaller and quieter. And the "smaller" bit might be a major advantage if SWMBO doesn't like "her" living room "cluttered" up with your electronic gewgaws. :(

Lot of talk about Netflix - consensus seems to be that Ouya themselves want Hulu, Netflix, etc badly.

Big plus for the Ouya store is supposedly it's patterned on the Apple one - so that means everything in it has been thoroughly reviewed and approved. From the discussions on xda and elsewhere rooting looks like a dead cert, but the problem is getting your Play apps to 'play nice' with Ouya's custom UI.

£99 for the console I can stomach, but £40 for a controller sounds like a complete urine acquisition! :yucky:
It's an interesting device, and I can't help thinking that Nintendo need to be worried, but I'm kind of glad that I saved my "VC money" for other projects. ;)
Re: News - OUYA console starts to ship, pre-order from GAME for £99
Have to agree the price of the controller is a joke :(
Re: News - OUYA console starts to ship, pre-order from GAME for £99
For 75 quid they had a chance but trying to charge £99? Not a chance; as mentioned above the Xbox would be a better option.
Re: News - OUYA console starts to ship, pre-order from GAME for £99
I'm expecting poor sales...
Then someone blogs an 'easy to install' XMBC hack.
Their website will then crash with all the orders and people will be selling them for 200 quid on ebay.

No need to hack its a launch application en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ouya_software

Bet they sell quite a few !

Supposedly XBMC will run from the get-go on this and you'll be able to use PS3/Xbox controllers with it too.
ahem..

I would expect the price to come down after the initial launch if demand is there for the console. More sales = beter negotiating price for the materials, manufacture and distribution costs.
Re: News - OUYA console starts to ship, pre-order from GAME for £99
Alot of people complaining about the price. You can already get Android devices that plug into a HDMI socket, offer the same power and have USB sockets to allow controllers/remotes/keyboards etc for about £50 These generally do have full access to the play store and run normal Android apps , including Netflix etc.
