Just another piece of information pointing towards amd being the gamers choice of graphics card. I only switched to Nvidia to get better performance on BF3. Now it looks like it might've been a bad choice in the long run...

Hopefully 7970 CF will work properly with BF4, big issues with it on BF3 according to the FCAT results.

Yes I'm sure a lot of so-called issues will be found on AMD's cards with Nvidia's FCAT.

What would you 'so-call' them then?

I'd be a bit miffed if most of the benefits of having a second card were being lost.

Not this crap again!... You do realise nvidia have released their fair (or unfair) share of shonky drivers too? And do you remember when they actually released a whole line of DX9 graphics cards that could barely manage to run DX9 games properly? I'm referring to the FX series which were absolutely abysmal compared to the Radeon cards at the time. ATI (not AMD) went through a bad spell of dodgy driver releases YEARS ago and it seems people still can't let go! They might still have the occasional bug now and then, but no more/worse than Nvidia.... And i own and use both a Radeon 7950 and Nvidia GTX 660 Ti, so i'm not biased towards either .

Ignorance is bliss with some people it seems.

It should do if DICE are running the demo with a 7990 (which is essentially a pair of 7970s in crossfire on a single card).... I'm pretty sure FCAT is an Nvidia thing anyway, so the results with AMD cards could be a bit misleading.

Whilst I agree that people are stuck in their opinion about AMD cards, there is irrefutable evidence about their current drivers and rendering 'runt' frames in crossfire. AMD have admitted it and said they will work on it, and I know these fan boys probably aren't referring directly to this, but just be aware there are issues at the moment.

Because a lot of games seem to be AMD branded lately. Compared to having Nvidia pasted all over the big name titles like we've been used to seeing for years now. Seems developers are working closer with AMD these days. Not sure if you played the latest Tomb Raider but that was a fine example of what I'm talking about. It was a mess for people with Nvidia cards. Still is to some extent actually. AMD are really on the up at the moment, and I'm happy for them. I'll likely SLI my GTX 670 later this year I think. Then probably switch back to AMD whenever I upgrade after that.

As for the "AMD bad drivers" thing. I think it's probably a bit over-hyped by Nvidia fanboys. In my experience (of which I've had a lot more with AMD cards) I would say it's nothing significant enough to choose Nvidia over AMD. Especially not lately. I do however, much prefer Nvidias control panel. Much more satisfying set of options to play with than CCC. Well, at least compared to last time I had an AMD card which was my 7970 last year. 12.1 drivers I think....

Re: News - Battlefield 4 demo was running on an AMD Radeon HD 7990

It seems that the Nvidia driver team is much better resourced than the AMD team. When there are issues such as with Tomb Raider the fixes come pretty quickly, whereas AMD still has issues with much older games like BF3, even if they have made major improvements since launch.

One wonders just how long Nvidia have been using FCAT internally before they let the rest of the world in on it.

Oh and another interesting looking demo from GDC, this time showing off the Unreal Engine 4.

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/6869/u...from-gdc-video

This time just running on a single 680, although I bet BF4 looks just lovely on a single 7970 as well.
I certainly hope that games developers aren't expecting everyone to have 7990 level firepower anyway.

I like the look of that! Very 1980's/Futuristic style. If that's running on a single 680 that's pretty sweet too. I always thought that unreal engine was pretty well optimized. A bit like the Source engine from Valve.

What issues with BF3? I play that game quite a bit and it runs perfectly and looks great maxed out with my Radeon 7950... If anything i'd say it looks worse (and definitely runs a tad slower) with my GTX 660 Ti. Some of the textures in the distance tend to go a bit funky with my GTX 660 Ti too.

With Crossfire it does, lots of dropped/runt frames. It's been great on a single card since the never settle drivers.
