Wouldn't just drawing a big red box around things as per the first 'spot the difference' thing work the best?

Hmmm, work all day on dual 24" setup and at home I use a dual 30" setup.

Not once have I thought highlighting changes on the other screen would be useful......I guess it's some people or some particular tasks that must benefit from it.......
