    Pfft,
I'll perhaps consider buying these when they make it like an extension of a mobile.

And i see this causing more accidents on the road.....

1500 bucks for a pair of specs? Jog on.

I thought they were aiming these to be a phone replacement, rather than a "mere" add on? Although approaching double the cost of even a high end phone is perhaps missing the point by a parsec or three.

1,500 dollars to have adverts thruster into my face and more of my privacy taken away, no thank you.

I need some guidance on the etiquette involved here...

So when someone approaches you wearing a pair of these, what is the polite way of saying "Please take those off and stop videoing this, what I prefer to be, private conversation in my, what I prefer to be, private time with the intention of putting the whole thing on YouTube, before I rip those off you and shove them up your **** " ???

$1500 (£980) is the dev unit price - similar to the cost of a development console unit or similar

Google have stated more than once that the retail price will be the cost of a modern smartphone - which I am taking to be more like £500-£600.

Good news that they have started shipping some out, I just hope that now they have some out there they can invest a bit of money in getting international approval so that they can open up their dev program later in the year to the UK - so far we have been excluded from all competitions/dev sign ups as Glass is only approved in the USA so far

If they get this out this year then this will be "The" gadget of the year..

    Why bother being polite?

Just put your hand in the vicinity of the camera.

Thanks for that, but even at that £500-600 price point I think it'll remain pretty niche - there's no way I'll be paying more than I paid for my smartphone (sim free!) for a mere peripheral. I'm guessing that the smart move would be to wait and see - especially once HTC, LG, Samsung, Sony, etc decide to do their own versions ... at more credit card friendly prices!

I suppose it depends on your point of view - it will be a niche product for now, there is no way this is ready for mass market..we are 5-6 years off that imo as there are still a huge number of issues that we need to solve, chiefly the social acceptance/privacy concerns.

£500-£600 however is very cheap for what you get - this is cutting edge stuff that many of us have been dreaming about for years..its proper sci-fi technology that we'll be able to start using this year. That is what excites me and many others, and it's why if given the opportunity I would pay the $1500US to buy a developer set.

The only thing that would stop me is if Apple were to announce there own, vastly better/more refined offering - but I don't see that happening for a few years to be honest, and unlike most of the hardware that Google put out, Glass so far looks to be top quality and already refined - not the usual cheap plastic and GTK+ style product that they typically offer.
