I think they are doing a kodak.

Kodak invented the first real digital camera. Yet they killed it because they didn't want to lose out on the profitable sale of all that film.

As it stands people have been buying MS licenses just because they are the defacto standard, they don't really need such a complex OS for using Facebook and iPlayer.

However MS are determined to not price the RT at a point it would eat into their real sales of more expensive x86 licenses.

Worked well for Kodak that.
