Re: Features - QOTW: Which graphics card partner do you trust the most?

I've only had Sapphire, HIS and XFX. None have caused me any problems. I probably liked the HIS one best, cos it was the Ice3 Turbo whatsit, and it gave me the most noticeable upgrade in terms of ability. And it meant I could play Far Cry with all the bells and whistles turned on...

EVGA and MSI are great, as I've never had any issues with them

I don't trust any of 'em. Or anybody for that matter.

But I have an XFX & an EVGA. Don't mean I trust 'em tho. 'Cos I don't.

Also had a Sapphire & HIS. And some others. Didn't trust any of 'em. Don't mean I didn't like 'em, just didn't trust 'em. You can't. Trust them, that is.

Re: Features - QOTW: Which graphics card partner do you trust the most?

Trust? Not really trust, but as far as brand loyalty goes, it's MSI. Over the years I've owned 3 cards - all MSI, and one for each generation of graphics slot. I'm well overdue for an upgrade now, as I still have a fully functional 9800GT that plays pretty much everything on the market that doesn't require DX11.

To me, they have the best stock cooling solutions, use far more copper in their cooling systems, and just seem to make rock solid products. That, to me, was the primary issue I had with both my PNY XLR8 and my EVGA card - both were prone to what I considered an excess of heat.

QOTW: Which graphics card partner do you trust the most?
I'm going to be unhelpful and suggest that they're all much of a muchness these days.

I've had Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, POV, XFX and Palit cards in the past, and the only one that I had problems with was MSI. That card - and this was in AGP days - decided to shear both of its heatsink retainer pins and as a result the HSF assembly dropped off.

The one that would get my vote would be the one with the best support - and I don't think there's any one of the ones named above that have a stellar reputation. Currently I've got an(other) XFX card and the questions I asked of the support line got answered quite quickly and correctly.

Likewise, the choice of card - red or green team - isn't a question I can answer. I've been a longtime NVidia loyalist, but the current AMD/ATi card (my first) is impressing me at the moment.

Who would I recommend to a friend? Probably a Geforce card from either Asus or Gigabyte.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

Re: Features - QOTW: Which graphics card partner do you trust the most?

I used to buy XFX when they made Nvidia cards... really good customer support! My last few have been Palit or EVGA. I've got a Palit GTX 460 768 still going strong in my stepdaughter's machine and a Palit GTX 480 I use for spares/emergencies. I also had an EVGA GTX 480 which I flogged when I needed cash and my current card is an EVGA GTX 670 FTW. I really love the fact you can put a custom cooler on an EVGA without voiding the warranty and the build quality is great!

Re: Features - QOTW: Which graphics card partner do you trust the most?

Had recent failures of Gigabyte, MSI and HIS. Seems to be mostly issues with cooling fans failing months after purchase.

Saying that I do like the build quality on MSI cards.

Would never ever buy another XFX card. Customer service is terrible.

Not been buying much cards but I am happy with my Asus 7850. Build quality is good and happy with it.

Re: Features - QOTW: Which graphics card partner do you trust the most?

Gigabyte would have been my first choice in the past, though I recently jumped ship to ASUS (Mostly because I got an ASUS mb this time, it matched and looked pretty. Me, shallow?). ASUS has been best for me (and my most recent) with a 670 CU II TOP.

Gainward probably made the best 'value' all round one I've had (I think it was a 5400 'golden sample' model which I only recentky stopped using).

XFX did the job (bang for buck, my 260 was a pretty good midrange card) but was nothing special.

One thing I will say is that having been almost entirely NVIDIA in all my builds for years (and happy with it to date), based on the bang-for-buck I'm contemplating AMD in my next build, and the 'never settle' package is currently making it a no-brainer.

Never had a problem with XFX/Saphire, etc. But since I got my KFA2 card, it's been a 'love at first sight' moment. Very pleased with the presentation and card itself.
