While trying to avoid the whole Metro debate, what is it about the mouse that makes it poor at emulating a touch screen interface?

You can click, drag and swipe with a mouse, what can't you do?

I'm learning to like W8. Although it still won't fast boot or recover from sleep !
My biggest issue is Skype not running in a window. I use it quite a lot to speak to family overseas and we often share links and news items. So I'm used to having the Skype window snapped to one side and a browser on the other.
I can't seem to have this work on W8, I keep having to pop in and out of the full screen Skype app.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Do they interfere ? I really dont use any of the Metro Apps, so is it possible to install Skype again over the top ?
