I'm liking the sound of the Sniper M5, but does this mean I need some green components to go with it?

I'm assuming the op amp will be for analogue connections only in which case it's not for me. Digital output for me these days hopefully the xi-fi chip can do mutli channel over coax

It can, but up to partners whether they license it from Dolby or not.

Wait, are you saying we can't trust marketing blurb? That shiny things aren't necessarily awesome?

    I refuse to believe it.

It's not marketing blurb! It's Hexus' own technologically savy viewpoint! If we can't trust what Hexus say, who can we trust?

I believe the Dolby Digital and DTS connect packs will add "encoder" tab to most Creative Audio Consoles.

....and +1 digital sound user. Keep up the good work with optical sockets Gigabyte. <3

I only thought gold plating the connectors was probably more useful than gold plating the sound chip itself. That's the context. If the connectors have a decent amount of gold plating it should prevent oxidisation/rust etc.

If it has ultra low latency ASIO and an op-valve-amp with adjustable gain, I'm interested

Does anyone remember when Creative did this years ago? Does anyone remember the fact that Creative updated the drivers a few times and then left the chip to die?

Yeah, I do. Not a chance in hell again Creative.

You shouldn't get oxidation on normal connectors either to be honest, not within the lifespan of the product at least

For right or wrong, some audio buffs are more concerned with EMI when you stick signal processing chips inside noisy computers, hence gold plating the chip I guess.

This is why the chip on the Asus ROG boards is just realtek audio at heart, pretty seriously pimped realtek, but you know you can always get your hands on up to date drivers.

RealTek are an excellent example of how drivers should be done.
