    And this is why pirating movies is so much better. They need to learn that DRM only hurts paying customers.

    Indeed +1 on that, though I must admit I DO like streaming services and we make use of lots because our Sammy is a SMART tv...

    Pretty much why i haven't bought into a streaming service yet, none of them offer what i would class as a reasonable service for the price you pay.

    I look at all these stream services and see how the quality isn't that good, I then go to CEX and buy a couple of blurays at £2-£3 when I want something to watch.

    got an email saying I need to download the movies I have - apparently I got 3 movies for free back in jan 2011 that came with my galaxy s1

    This is really weird*. An hour ago I plugged my LG TV into the net for the first time in yonks in order to watch episode 1 of The Fall on iPlayer (pretty impressive series so far, BTW). While messing around with the LG's limited range of apps I fired up the Acetrax app for the first time and ended up watching a trailer.

    Now I see this. An hour and a half ago I wouldn't have recognised the name 'Acetrax' at all.



    *ok, it's just a coincidence entirely within the realms of reasonable plausibility, But it;s still weird. ;-)

    Just tried logged in to see what I had against my name - Looks like its from the offer I got with my Galaxy note a year ago - Must have moved over from Samsungs Movie service at some point. Not too bothered to lose access but still kind of annoying. Guess this confirms why I've spent nothing on completely buying movies online. At least with streaming from netflix I know its not mine to keep.

    Streaming Services & Rentals = WIN
    Convenient and good quality copies on demand. It's just the modern and more convenient Blockbuster store and back in the day they used to make good money even though "pirate" VHS tapes were around. I hope the services see fit to lower prices a little and ensure streaming rentals is the easy option as this would be the best way to combat bloomin' pirates.

    Permanent 'Ownership' with DRM = FAIL - for exact reason in this news, WTF do you do when the licence servers are gone?
    You never truly "own" DRM-ed content, it's a complete misnomer and shouldn't be allowed to be described as such. What you own is a licence to use content as long as the whims of the licence provider allow you to do so...
