I'm still shocked they removed it from RC1 and then kept it out after every testers outrage just to re-add it later on.

A charm with start button, a hardware dedicated start button under screen, a windows key on keyboard, and now here comes the fourth button on the traditional way? seriously how many "starts" I need on a convertible ultrabook?

Good, now the hates can shut up about missing a start button! I never understood the hate about the removal of the start button especially when if you go bottom left and click its the exact same thing!.

Microsoft doing what they want and acting in their own interests and not the consumers... Again.

"Oh you like the Start button? We don't care, here; let us show you this new OS you have no familiarity with nor want."

"Oh you don't want to use your body as a controller? Here, let us aggressively market it with 360 and make it a required feature of XOne"

No, because it never was about just the button. If that's what you think, you've been missing the point.

I'm not about to do the argument all over again, but this does not solve my objections. Not at all. It's a step in the right direction, especially with boot to desktop as an option, but not sufficient for me .... not that I expect to get what I consider sufficient.

Microsoft, it's time to start over. You've hit a wall you can't put a window in. Scrap the Windows 8 ideas until you can finish the Windows 8 OS. In particular, the problems with drivers, wireless APs disappearing from the list, the inability to change network options such as utilizing CTCP network congestion notification even with PowerShell, and the random crashes caused by Bill Gates knows what! Finish what you start before trying to sell some other incomplete piece of crap!

Re: News - First screenshots featuring the Windows 8.1 Start Button emerge

Maybe a little, I see far to many people saying the same things it just seem rather silly and narrow minded in most cases take for instance my friend who has just gone back to windows 7 and his reasoning is that Windows 8 is to advanced and he wants his start button back... I DONT UNDERSTAND, it has essentially a button and does things better there was no need yet he went back anyway.

Saracen, my comment really is just to the 70% of Win8 haters, clearly your issues are more substantial and with good reason! I know that Windows 8 is not everyones cup of tea but some people are just jumping on the hate wagon a tad to much.

I love that some news sites have reported this change as the worst thing ever and that MS are doomed, MS is doomed if they continue their path or listen to customers it seems! I do like the button style though .

Since buying and installing Start 8 and ModernMix I'm actually starting to like Windows 8. I've now got three machines with W8 installed (though I confess I've got Classic Shell on the other two.)

Agreed, it's a handy visual clue for users and they could surely make it a taskbar option alongside all the other toolbar bobbins. Having a button on by default would have avoided a lot of the grumbling by easing the change a bit for people.

Windows 8 still needs a good solid interactive tutorial mode though...
