ding ding game over, and the winner of the console wars is PS4, Xbox one is dead before its arrival. Sony you done gamers proud.

Plenty of fan boys on both sides who will buy them in droves, but the PS4 does look like the winner!

It's not just the price but the fact that Sony have said there will be no restrictions on used games unlike xbox. This was the death blow to the xbox, you could say it was a middle finger from sony to M$

No, sony said that there would be no more additional restrictions.....and so many games already require a code to play online when the game is resold. I fail to see that as much different to the XBox One situation.

Also, price alone will not win this. I still think that the Microsoft approach may yield better performance and then there are exclusive titles.....

And neither will win it on looks....sheeesh, both are just about the most ugliest consoles ever conceived.

Well, as the majority of purchases will be made by parents, I would suspect that the cheapest appropriate console will win, this of course being the ps4. Likewise I can see almost no reason to purchase the Microsoft one, neither am I loyal to either brand.

You fail to sell? go have a look at the reactions around the web to sony's announcement regarding used games and then good look at reactions to Microsoft's used game policy, there is a gulf in difference. One is very restrictive the other not.

Sony have the edge now IMHO. We will see how the reality pans out, but at least on price and other features mentioned PS4 is the one to bet on at this point.

Wow, everyone in Europe gets shafted on those prices. If you convert the dollar prices using Google they should be £256 and €300. Now those are some awesome prices, why is there such a big difference?

Sales tax and import tax largely. US prices are almost always quoted net of tax as tax varies from state to state, EU and UK prices are almost always quoted inclusive of tax. Add on the 20% VAT and you're over £300, add on import tax and other overheads for operating in the UK and it's probably not that bad a price. Also they're probably allowing for variations in exchange rate - you very rarely get mid-market rates at currency conversion. I bet if you walk into a high street Bureau de Change with £256 they will *not* give you $399. Everyone takes a little slice when you're working in currency exchange... ;)

One thing seems odd to me. The Australian price. I ran a currency converter, and that $549 AUD comes out to like $513 USD. Why make the people down under pay so much more than everyone else?

Not all parents will know the difference :D

OTOH, I know quite a few people that will buy all three consoles. Then it really comes down to how good the games are.

Surely then it comes down to which unit plays the games best; likely that will be PS4 (if any of them show an advantage) due to the stronger hardware. Xbox1 will need to rely on its value added features (better online system? kinect?!)

Probably.

The Xbox One is far too American centric, all the cable stuff probably won't work too well or be relevant outside North America.

As for used games it's a good move, it does leave it in the hands of the game makers but even games that need codes are usually playable, e.g you can take round a copy of pro evo round to a friend and it will work, just without the online stuff.
