Historically speaking Microsoft has managed to come under Sony in price. I'm quite surprised about this turnaround but I guess both will still sell pretty well
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
I like the integrated power supply - it's a big win in an entertainment unit setup to not have loads of cables and power bricks lying around.
The month or two before the actual real world release will be a real fight to attract purchasers.
Despite the now-paid-for-online-multiplayer (which does have other benefits - free games, etc), the PS4 is looking really compelling, whereas the XBone is at best "meh" - especially if you don't live in the US where the TV features make a little more sense than "why?! wtf!?"
£80 cheaper, better looking, less restrictive with used games (if you care about that), no PRISM integration, built-in PSU, more powerful, targeted at playing games rather than being an everything-box, non-mandatory gaming gimmick (however technically amazing that hardware is), replaceable storage.
The only XBone pros are more USB ports and for some people, a better controller - but maybe the PS4's controller is better than before.

In the next generation's life, I still think it'll be similar to this Gen, with both consoles selling a similar amount of millions of units. I'll end up with both, although probably with a year between purchases. Then when Zelda U comes out I'll end up with a wii u. All this despite me wanting to switch to PC, I just can't help it, I like to play the exclusives.
Still gunning for Android Console....
Is the PS+ subscription needed for LAN play? Reason I ask is that I've seen some comments that the 'Bone will require XBL subscription for LAN play due to the cloud storage etc.
I'm one of those "some people" for whom the PS controller is a major minus point. Although I can't help wondering if someone's done a PS3/4 compatible version of the XBox controller. For me at least the ergonomics of the XBox one are much better, and the PS controller also feels god-awful flimsy, (I bought one second hand @Game to pair with one of my Android tablets for a spot of Dead Trigger).
Of course someone just pointed out that my library of '360 titles are lost causes either way for a next gen console, so the smart money might be on keeping one of the two '360's in the house as a legacy box and replacing the other with a new PS4. Got a Bravia tv in the living room anyway, so maybe the PS4 would work "better" than an XBone anyway.
Hopefully the cooling is good I hated the way the PS3 sounded like a hairdryer once you started to play games or videos
It's the big problem with endlessly chasing "slim". I'd much prefer a quieter console than a smaller one.
I'm surprised that they haven't mentioned an SSD model at launch - would be a good way to screw a bit more money out of those customers willing to pay anything for something better.
I think this generation though, it's all going to be dependent on software and games line-up. We don't know anything about the latter, and the XBone has some odious requirements on the software side, so I'll probably be playing the wait-and-see game for a lot more time yet... and I may well end up with neither.
I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft will soon lift the stupid rules they set with secondhand games and the phone home thing and say something like "due to customer feedback"

Both Microsoft and Sony have hordes of fanboys that will buy these things in their droves, so I don't think all the "RIP" stuff is particularly realistic. It does seem like Sony have the upper hand *at the moment*, but if I recall correctly, the PS3 didn't exactly get off to a stellar start yet managed to claw back plenty of ground between then and now. Bit silly to call a 10 year war 'over' before it's even kicked off. A lot can happen in 10 years
No rear USB ports?
