Two stage cooling looks innovative, projecting the cooler vertically to avoid fouling of components/coolers either side of the CPU is a smart idea, I hope it performs well, but we do appear to be reaching a plateau of what heatpipe technology is capable of.

There are other technologies being developed that are full of promise but have yet to deliver, was disappointing to see the liquid metal coolers disappear without further development.

I would be worried that the small fan on the lower section might be whiny... interested to see benchmarks though, as and when they appear.

Why can't they just leave LEDs off cpu coolers especially when you can't replace the fans its the only reason I haven't got the zalman cnps 9900

If they strobed the LEDs off the tacho signal so that the fan appeared to be moving very slowly backwards then that would have some amusement value, if only to see the panic on people's faces!

Changed my mind, strobe the LEDs on one half so one side appears stationary and the other half spinning.

Edit to add: Or so that the blades are stationary but the text in the middle appears to be spinning.

like the look of it but prefer my coolers like the hyper 212 that i have. The air flow for me is more natural in my case.

You probably can change the fan, looks like it's a standard 140mmx25mm fan under a plastic housing and a standard 80mmx25mm on the secondary fin section, both held on by standard wire clips.
If you look at the instruction pdf, it shows you can reposition the 80mm fan below the secondary fin section so you can fit a 2nd 140mmx25mm fan on the under side of the primary fin section, or remove the cover and put both the 140mm and 80mm below their respective fin sections to lower the overall height of the cooler.

This is far from revolutionary or even "the future of CPU cooling" just a heatpipe stand off top down cooler (original thermaltake big typhoon came out in 2006) about the only really interesting thing is the effect you could make with two different coloured and sized LED fans under a shroud.

A 2000rpm 80mm fan is probably going to get a bit loud at full speed and at 165mm heigh it's not going to fit in that many cases.

My bet is that It'll probably have reasonable thermal performance but be over priced because of a flashy and pointless bezel-bling-cover

Please Hexus if you get one of these in for testing/review, test it with and without the cover on.

"The future of CPU cooling"? That's quite a statement. I imagine the cover will produce more noise and restrict airflow somewhat, whilst the diagonal-top down design instead of a typical perpendicular tower design will mean thermal performance wouldn't be as good either from what I'm guessing.

It's no surprise that the fans are reasonably quiet though, a 800-1200rpm 140mm fan is pretty slow spinning and quiet. 2000rpm for a 80mm fan isn't too fast either. I wonder if the choice of fans will restrict cooling potential too.
