Nice news on the controller, now someone just needs to make a good car game for the PC to take advantage of it... or port FM *drools*...

Re: News - Xbox One controller will work on PCs, drivers coming next year
So the mandatory-on Kinect isn't mandatory after all. Which way is MS facing now? There seems to have been so many u-turns I'm getting giddy.
Still, not having to have it connected is, I guess, at least an improvement for those worried about the possibility of it spying on them. I'm not convinced that's a serious risk but, nonetheless, I won't have cameras in my home I'm not in control of.
But that's not my issue with this. My issue is that if I were to buy an XBox One, which I won't be, I'm paying for what now is clearly optional and not mandatory to or necessary for the unit's operation, whether I want it or not.
As far as I'm concerned, XBox One is seriously over-priced, and Kinect capability is a large part of why.
If XBox One comes out in a 'Lite' version, without Kinect, and realistically priced, I'll look again. Otherwise, it's as dead as the Dodo to me.

Re: News - Xbox One controller will work on PCs, drivers coming next year
Isn't the Lite version just an Xbox 360?
I mean it sounds like the title publishers will be told to use Kinect as a first level citizen feature, which I sort of understand. How do you compete against GTA on PS4/PC? You have one or two platform unique features. You can only convince publishers to do anything to use those, if you have 100% of your userbase (or the sizeable majority) using it. You also want to force economy of scale any colour so long as its black.

That controller really does look promising, Can't wait to try out those haptic triggers!
But... If Microsoft do release a kinect-less bundle I will be cancelling my pre-order,
There's huge potential for the kinect and if it's incorparated into every box then dev's will actually be able to put it to good use and have the potential to use it in all games, Like telling your archers to ready and fire on your command in Ryse!.. not just ****ty gimick "Kinect" games

Would like a new controller for the pc.... Dont mind waiting if its any good. I like the xbox360 controller and its windows integration. The wired/wireless is something good too, however how much is the adapter going to be for the pc to use wireless...and can i use my old steering wheel on it too.

Only in the sense that a current top-end PC is an 8-year old PC. The underlying architecture is very different. Or to put that another way, only if a 360 plus Kinect is an Xbox One, in which case, why pay a small fortune for it? (And yes, I know the new Kinect is "better").
Is a Lite version likely? Well, previously, I have said 'no chance", and I'm certainly not holding my breath, but MS seem to have already done more turns that a whirling dervish, so anything's possible.
At this point, the chances of me buying a One are vanishingly small. There's too much that has put me off, not least, some of the u-turns. Unlike a certain ex-Prime Minister, MS obviously ARE for turning, and I don't trust them not to reverse some of those "policy" reversals, once they've got a nice, large committed userbase that have already bought.
So, in short, the 360 will just have to suffice for me, and if that means no access to games that are One-exclusive, well, so be it, I guess.

I doubt you have much cause for concern on that score.

Well, it's just a matter of time before an XBO Core/Lite emerges now, a case of "when" not "if". Then there's the price.. between £249 and £299 IMO.

Re: News - Xbox One controller will work on PCs, drivers coming next year
I don't see how this would make me want to get a Xbox, as firstly you would only get one controller when buying a system. Thus connecting and disconnecting the device from pc to Xbox is a bit stupid. And I would like to ask those of us that use a PC for gaming, would you get a Xbox controller or a Razer controller for the same price, which works on pc/ps/Xbox?

I don't follow. You can only play on one controller at a time so surely you'd want to take the controller with you between the two systems?

I don't get it, I sync with the PC and then Sync with the 360 it takes seconds, I will admit I have 2 controller so they usually just stay one PC one 360, but of course I quickly change for multiplyer on either.
As a PC gamer, most problem get the xbox controller, look like a good evolution of the current one and if it works backwards as they say then great.

£59.99 with a Play and Charge kit. I don't think so...I'll just get a another wired PC 360S controller for £19.99 :-D

Customers: "Oi Microsoft that's crap, don't make it like that or I refuse to buy the thing"
Microsoft: "OK customers, we've listened and changed it!"
Customers: "Piss off you're always u-turning, WTF is wrong with you?!"

Paranoia! Really, as if they are interested in filming you, and the world's ISPs not being a touch annoyed about the large upload traffic generated and of course nobody would sniff the traffic and rumble it on day 1 would they...
It's not clearly optional at all, its an integral part of the hardware like the standard controller is. It comes with ALL units so games developers KNOW it is there and can be confident to make games which rely on it.

Re: News - Xbox One controller will work on PCs, drivers coming next year
They'll certainly not release a kinect-less version before all the pre-orders have been sorted or they'll have a massive number of cancellations. They'll definately release a non-kinect version at some point though.
This is quite good news too for anyone who wants to use the kinect for non-xbox type stuff like the current kinect. Ebay is going to be full of them unless they can pull out some killer features for it.

Re: News - Xbox One controller will work on PCs, drivers coming next year
Don't see much change from using the current 360 controller except the stonking price!
Shall wait for reviews

Re: News - Xbox One controller will work on PCs, drivers coming next year
I just hope the receiver looks better than the current one... Hopefully it won't be so ugly and with such a long cable. Nano USB type or even internal would make me a happy gamer

Re: News - Xbox One controller will work on PCs, drivers coming next year
Microsoft forgot PC game platform. So, how important is the fact Xbox One controller will work on PC?
I'm not impressed at all! I think Microsoft was stupid, because, for exemple, I never will play in consoles - and I think Redmont loses some gamers thinking like me.
In time: I'm not counter console gamers! I'm not "fanboy"; It's just a personal choice: I dont want buy a console; My PC is ready to run actual games and I prefer keyboard + mouse (Can't use these controllers)
