You are joking... i just bought my 7790.. why yu do dis??
Typical, just bought my 7950 last week and only got a code for Crysis 3 (redeemed via Origin). I'll just wait for the Steam Xmas Sale I think...
Why is every improvement a step back ?
Before you could two free games even with a low end card.
With the 'top tier' graphics card price inflation over the last 5 years, I'd rather have an option of cheaper prices with no 'free' games. I mean, the cost of those games IS going onto the graphics card, so I'd rather choose which games I want, if any (like now I wouldn't buy any of those as I'm playing NS2 for the foreseeable future), and save myself a few bob. Do they even do OEM versions of top end graphics cards these days?
Otherhand (15-08-2013)
When I got my HD7870 tahiti LE I got 4 games, where as with this I'd get less bet get to choose...
seems a fair trade off...
AMD is tryig really hard to win customers. Truth is, if they are doing this they seem likely to be targeting the clueless, but that doesn't mean that people don't know what their buying. The steam "survey" showed that Intel and Nvidia is used the most. But, that includes laptops so I won't make say its a good point for any Nvidia/AMD/Intel argument.
Point to make is that this is only AMD's bundle, so there's nothing to stop retailers sweetening the deal by adding a title or two of their own, nor presumably from card manufacturers also slotting a few titles in.Buyers of the Radeon HD 7990 will not be part of the new reward program detailed above and will continue to get the maximum eight games from the previous Never Settle: Ultimate Reload bundle. This graphics card has only last week been subject of a very large price cut and retaining the games bundle of BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Far Cry 3 and Deus X Human Revolution might help it shift off the shelves.
E.g. I bought my 7970 under the current scheme and got the titles mentioned in the quote, with the exception of Tomb Raider and Deus X, for which I got alternates (e.g. latest MoH) which I didn't mind since I wouldn't have even loaded those two.
At the risk of sounding like an AMD fanboy - which I'm not - these bundles are a great idea, and AMD is still making NVidia's equivalents look pretty miserly.
You're onto something there - I guess the closest you're going to find to a proper no-frills OEM card is to pick one of the retailers "own brand" cards. But I'm going to assume that this'll mean exclusion from the top flight chipsets - e.g. 7970, 7990, 770, 780. What about folks who want to CrossFire or SLi - they're going to be less than happy to effectively pay more for two copies of the software, especially as I'd assume it's not readily giftable.
That would depend on when Tokoloshie bought the card, as far as I'm aware I thought AMD had been running these promo's since at least the beginning of the year. I checked and I bought my 7970 in early March - which would fit the "just bought" description I suppose - and the Never Reloaded bundle was running then. So if you bought the card this year Tokoloshie - and can prove it - then maybe contacting AMD would be a good idea ... nothing ventured, nothing gained?
Also Tokoloshie, if you're desperate for a game, (and no-one's going to say it violates the T&C's), then you can have the code for Sleeping Dogs that I got in the bundle. I bought that game when it came out, so the copy I got with the card is "surplus to requirements" and as such it's never been used.
I would like to know if you get two or tree cards do you get double or is it only three/two/one to choose from. Because if you can choose six games if you buy two 7970's that would be Awesome.
