I think the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is good value at £139 in several places. Only dual-core 1ghz but seems to work well enough for most people

+1 - any below £180 mark of the Nexus 7 is pointless.

Even worse if Tesco put their own skin on top of Android like Amazon did with the Kindle

Anyone remember the glorious Next tablet!? This reminds me of that, although at least Tesco sell some electronics and have the phone business. But it still begs the question, who in their right mind buys these?

People who know no better... the type who rely on the young chap (straight out of college, he's young and male so he must know enough thinks the store manager) at the electronics counter for buying advice.

It'll probably be some standard OEM tablet (that you can get through other "brands" on eBay and Amazon market) and just come preloaded with access to Tesco in-store WiFi, the shopping app and an "every little helps" wallpaper, perhaps on Tesco Mobile data plans.

Tesco doing tablets... it's almost as laughable as the Daily Express "trust us" gambling advert...

Makes sense. Sure it will have terrible support however.

Re: News - Tesco prepping own-brand tablet in time for Xmas

Too be honest , after bashing the idea in a previous comment , we've actually brought one for Christmas. From a power point of view its on par with our Note 10 with some corners cut , like only 1GB ram - but on the whole its a good tablet capable of doing everything well. And better still Tesco did not mess around with Android , clean and fully functional.

Define support? You mean Android updates? Well apart from Nexus devices who do get good software updates? I'm still waiting for 4.3 on my Samsung Note 10 and this is their top range tablet.
