Another reason for Apple to jack up prices even more :-P

For all we know that could be a pile of burning tyres in the car park ;-).
Start a bit of panic, as was done with the Thai floods, the media (including tech media sites) will hype it up and folk will panic buy and suppliers will have a good excuse to put up prices of everything connected.

After reading the headline I immediately thought: "how convenient that that happened when there was talks of prices going down"

They said no-one was hurt IIRC.

I expect it will be overblown to increase RAM prices massively. We saw this with HDDs,with the floods. Production levels have been higher than before the floods for a long time now,and HDDs have even shorter warranties and yet companies have hiked prices.
