Wouldn't mind an itx version of one of these as a HTPC/Media Server
When should I see tablets with this?
The PowerVR graphics are the very reason I've not bought an Intel tablet so far. With the promise of something better, I am certainly keen now!
yeah, I contemplated picking up a win 8 tablet with the old atom but it was so sluggish. Hoping this will allow for an affordable tablet with ok performance
Interesting stuff - although I'm not convinced Intel have got it quite right:
CPU-wise it looks pretty good - same IPC as Jaguar (based on Cinebench results @ 1.5GHz), and clocks higher at the same or lower TDP (that's the benefit of a process node lead). Having had a play with some Jaguar-based laptop it should be more than adequate from a CPU side.
Graphics-wise though ... oh dear. HD 2500 had 6 EUs at a base frequency of 650MHz, boosting to over 1GHz, and was still barely passable. Bay Trail has 4EUs at a base of 311MHz. That might explain why the TDPs are so low. Graphically, Kabini has nothing to worry about.
