    I'm glad they put OOOE back in. Old Atoms were painfully slow and it seemed such a weird omission since the Net Burst days. Now squeeze that sucker onto a phone and give me Ubuntu on it.

    3x performance is leading you up the garden path a bit when it has twice as many cores and they were running a multi core test.
    Also 1.8GHz vs 2.4GHz
    Doing a bit of scaling math the old design would of scored 1.46 if it had equal clockspeed / cores.
    So performance per clock has hardly improved at all!

    Performance per watt though, now we're talking!

    Agreed. Buying into Intel clovertrail platform turned me from a 20 year fan of Intel into an Intel hater overnight.

    Ah but it has improved for a single thread, and that is where it was needed.

    Still, the last Atom was a dog of a CPU, comparing the new one to a that mess it really *should* look good.
