Re: News - Google Nexus 5 specs leak via online PDF service manual

If they managed to increase the screen size without increasing the phone size then this could be the perfect smaller phone. I wish they would increase the battery size though, I don't need a really thin phone but I do need good battery life. Mugen Power Batteries wouldn't be able to survive if manufacturers sold phones with decent sized batteries to begin with.

Re: News - Google Nexus 5 specs leak via online PDF service manual

I'm also a little concerned over battery life in this. The Snapdragon 800 is supposed to be much better on power consumption than the S4 Pro in the N4, the bigger screen isn't going to help but I'd say with the extra 200mah it's going to be about the same battery life as the N4.

The LG G2 (which the N5 is based on) has a huge 3000mah battery in it with very similar insides, so hopefully Android 4.4 can also deliver some decent power management improvements.

What Noxvayl said. Everything looks good, apart from the battery, but hey, it's not even out yet, so I'm not going to knock something I haven't used... This WILL be my next phone providing they price it like previous Nexus models. GG Google

Re: News - Google Nexus 5 specs leak via online PDF service manual

No it should do quite well on the battery front, do the maths between anandtechs benchmarks of the G2 and N4 battery life and realistically taking just the battery size into account it should be around 60% better in tests than the N4, in voice calls it should be ~130% I did the maths a bit ago lost it now but its pretty good and that doesnt take into account the fact that the screen size is 5" instead of the optimus G2 5.2" screen.

Its a shame it doesnt have the 3000mAh battery that the G2 has but it isnt doom and gloom because it really is much more efficient than last time so its not just a 200mAh increase!.

The specs could change, the manual has errors everywhere and is outdated... really hope this is true because the FCC or whatever spec the measurements as smaller than the N4 something like 3mm shorter and 0.7 mm smaller width and 1mm thinner, would be the "perfect" phone size for me then as I almost completely love the N4 size but it could do with a very small decrease in bezel size, I will certainly live with the same size but its a slight meh after I got excited for it being smaller! Albeit it is an impressive feat getting a bigger screen in the same dimensions .

Should be brilliant, battery life and camera quality were the two main things on the N4 but they seem rectified and it also has LTE .

Re: News - Google Nexus 5 specs leak via online PDF service manual

This could well be the phone that tempts me to switch away from iPhone - probably to the amusement of many who have read my past venomous anti-android posts...

I need a new phone, ideally with 4G. Already got a very cheap 4G sim only contract (4gb data/unlim calls/texts for under £20 a month) and I want a phone to use it with.

An iPhone 5C is not an option (ugly, not at all "apple like" and basically a 5 with inferior casing), the 5S is ridiculously expensive..and I already have an iPhone 5 for work, so getting a second one just seems silly.

That leads me to the market - I have been down the windows route before, didn't get on with it, I strongly see it as a platform on its way out, just isn't worth considering. So you look to the Android market - I really can't stand the look of the Samsung phones (all far too toy like and they love cheap plastic!), HTC don't release their new phones until next year (shame as a HTC One with upgraded specs would be nice...), LG have a pretty nasty UI on top of plain android...so really for someone like me, who has spent years "having a go" at Android...the nexus 5 is the only one that fits the bill. Likely to retain a glass back, good specifications, plenty of storage, 4G and supposedly cheap.

I can cope with the extra security/usability/fragmentation issues if the nexus 5 really is under £400 for a 32gb phone - considering it's nearly £700 for an equivalent iPhone, i'd rather save that money and buy a PS4...

Looking forward to an official announcement soon - can practically gurantee that i'll buy an iPhone 6 next year but it's always fun to have these adventures "off piste", even if like with my Windows Phone experience it's not guaranteed to go well..

Re: News - Google Nexus 5 specs leak via online PDF service manual

If this comes out with specs listed, the battery life is vastly improved from my current nexus 4 and comes out with similar pricing it will be my shutupandtakemymoney moment of the year. The nexus 4 is the best phone I've had and the nexus 5 should be even better on paper. The same size as the current nexus with the bigger screen are massive plus points. Couple that with the efficiency improvements and we may have the years best android handset to date. Role on next Monday!

Why such a big screen 4" for phones is about right for me otherwise i end up dropping them.

Been waiting for this. The only downside I can think of is the non-expandable storage. Other than that, it's super!

I am waiting for someone to bring out something phone sized. This is stupid. Have you seen people are giving up using them as phones now? You can get a bluetooth "handset" accessory. So back to carrying two thing in your pocket. In that case, just get a 7" tablet with 3G/4G and be done with it.

    http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/1232...r-larger-phone

Scratch that. Give me 3G on a netbook, with a 40Wh battery, with a charging dock for a bluetooth handset built in. Might finally get a weeks charge out of an Android device then

Quick update. Looks like Google will offer two different batteries depending on which version of the N5 you buy. The 16GB will have the 2,300mAh and the 32GB will get a 3,000mAh.
