Better looking PC games.
Absolutely nothing, even as a technology fan and PS Vita owner I can honestly say nothing about the PS4 (and PS3 before it) has made me interested.
I've got a good PC with a decent graphics card, for me than invalidates any need for a TV attached console of any kind. The only interesting thing about the XBox One for me is the TV and other features and that's probably US focussed anyway so kinda moot...
I like the Vita (when a rare decent game shows up) because I can play it on the train, on London commuter trains it needs to be handheld!
I am not excited. Yet.
What I need to see is a game which was impossible on the 360/PS3 generation. I don't mean to say that the 360 can run the same games at the same quality - what I mean is there's no practical difference between, say, Assassin's Creed 4 on PS3 or PS4 other than price.
On the 360, it didn't take long for a game to happen which would have been impossible on the Xbox generation: Dead Rising. A totally new way to play which simply wasn't possible on the older hardware.
When the PS4 and XBox One have exclusives which would never have been possible on the current gen, even at a lower resolution, then I may be interested. I suspect the defining feature of the new hardware, therefore, is how much RAM it has, not the CPU or GPU.
It's quieter than an original PS3. It looks alright, and has an integrated PSU. It's only 0.4% likely to be broken out of the box. It's foremost a games console. It's not stupidly expensive.
I can't say I've studied the PS4 closely, but that probably says how excited I am about it.
It's possible I might end up with one, but I'd have said that about XBOne before I found out about some of their design decisions. So I might buy one, but after I look at more closely, I equally well might not.
Excited? Nah. I'm about as excited as I am when I decide whether to have peas or green beans with my pie & mash. Actually, ignore that .... I'm not as excited as I am over peas v. green beans, and I'm not exactly wetting myself with anticipation over that, either.
I've got a PS3, but I don't even know what features the PS4 has or doesn't have. I guess that says a lot.
I may end up with one at some point, but given the launch price it's going to be a very long time before I pick one up. Maybe if Gran Turismo 7 is excellent?
The technical aspects of it. The SOC seems a very interesting piece of engineering indeed. Also the fact it is X86 will help PC ports of multiplatform games IMHO.
Better looking PC games
the knowledge that I have a "next gen console" amount of savings in my bank, knowing that I now would not buy either and can put it towards my next PC instead.
Like others said, not much tbh. Being a hardware geek, previous gens were interesting to me just for their different specs: the Cell processor, Blu-ray, even the SH-1 Hitachi cpus in Segas, the 'sort-of' 64-bit Jaguar, the texturing of 3DO, FX chip on SNES LOL :)
The XB1 & PS4 are so generic and practically interchangeable internally, they offer nothing that can't be seen in an average low-end PC.
The advantages have been mentioned of course: easier programming, better ports etc.
Personally though, I think something has been lost with the trend to homogeneity.
I was lucky to try out a PS4. Games uses DX10, so inn AC4, waters weren't plastic!
The XMB has also been replaced.

Better pc games. Sums it up really, not interested in a console when that cost could go towards a better pc build.
What excites me about Playstation 4 is it will not have framerate issues for a long time.
I wouldn't say I was excited in any way for the PS4 or the Xbone. I am interested however in the way games develop primarily for PC due to both consoles being x86 architecture.
not too much underwhelmed by what has been created
I think what excites me most at the moment is to see if you get one that actually works...loads of sites saying plenty of PS4's are DOA
excited? nothing really... some people here are talking about framerates of xbox one/ ps4. Then go with graphics cards (gtx780ti, gtx titan, r9 270, 280, 290x) Graphics cards for better frame rates and graphics and worth the upgrade!
Nothing beats the upgradability of a PC and far superior hardware. SSD and fast graphics cards do well for the PC
For me its got to be better looking PC games, hopefully MANTLE will see some stunning ports due to the amd based hardware in the consoles
PLS PLS PLS no more crap ports !
The prospect of gaming platform with a large community base is the aspect that appeals to me. PC will always be a head but thats to be epected IMO. I'm not going to get into PC gaming until 4k is a realistic option.
By the way, there are complaints going around the net that a number of PS4's are faulty, some accusations that they are being sabotaged in the Foxconn plants? No reliable indication of the percentages of involved yet though.
Edit: Sony has admitted 0.4% will be faulty according to Trustedreviews:

Not at all excited anymore - I cancelled my pre order last month.
I'll wait until I need to buy one to play the games I want, and get one then, possibly. At launch there is nothing exciting (now watchdogs is delayed) with no "killer" launch games whatsoever (I mean really, there isn't a single PS4 exclusive game worth getting excited about) and GTAV has proved that the PS3 can still show off stunning graphics/audio/gameplay with the right developer behind it.
IF they had maintained true backwards compatibility with my PS3 games I would have kept my pre order, no question..gives you a new toy to play with and some actual games to use too - but without that crossover point, it's not worth it.
It's VERY expensive too..yes cheaper than the XBO, but still crazy money at the moment. Odds are i will pick one up in a year or two when the first "slim" edition is released.
Hmmm. Tempting as I have a vita with ps+ however I think id rather have a budget gaming laptop with our first child on the way as its more flexible...
I like the look of it, but I will hold out for a while. at least till the first price drop.
I still have a PS3 which I hardly ever use, and have quite a few games which I have hardly played. I like the PS3 so I think I should try and get some use out it before skipping ahead. I prob wouldn't end up playing it either.
i bet I sound nuts in this post.
My pre-order is still open, but I'm questioning it. Mostly due to the cost.
I went with the Killzone bundle as it basically works out at over £50 cheaper than buying the camera and pads separate. Might cancel and wait it out....not sure yet.
The fact that consoles with brand new technology still don't look as good as PC games with a technology that's a few years old :P
Before I played The Last of Us I had no intention of getting a PS4. Heck, I'd hardly used my PS3! But since being awed by Naughty Dog's ability as a developer and lured away from my "PC elitist" mindset, I've thoroughly enjoyed Uncharted 2 & 3, been amazed at Journey's beautiful experience, and had a lot of fun poking around with the "free" games I keep getting on PS+.
I then fell in love with Super Stardust HD, because my first gaming love was Asteroids in the arcade in the early 80's. That led me to pay more attention to Resogun as both a great game and a superb tech demo, and... well, eventually I found myself with a preorder which I never quite got around to cancelling even though it makes no sense to buy so soon.
Ultimately it's a bit of a tech adventure which could easily end in tears and disappointment. But 2.5 years on since my last PC Master Race upgrade I'm under no pressure whatsoever to upgrade again, so the money I would have been spending on new PC toys is being frittered away on a console I will definitely be buying anyway as soon as Naughty Dog release something for it.
Nope, you don't sound "nuts" - actually I was going to agree with you. I waited a good while before buying my first XBox360 (didn't bother with the original XBox - Playstation instead), and while I pre-ordered the current XBox (as a trade-up - thanks GAME!) that was because I wanted some of what that new revision promised.
I would have probably been a shoe-in for an XBone, but the lack of backward compatibility and the high price put me off. So if I am to get a new console at all, then the PS4 is definitely in with a shout.
Problem is that I've spent a LOT of money on the PC this year (new graphics card, memory, disks and motherboard) and it's now pretty acceptable for a Windows PC - still takes an "age" to get to the point that I can use it (damned software updaters) and I still get the occasional BSoD (although not nearly as many as before the mobo upgrade - thanks Cat!). So the "crossy" funds are somewhat compromised.
Said it before - if Microsoft are insisting that I rebuy all my titles then Sony's in with a shout. Especially as Sony don't seem to have put a "foot wrong" to any meaningful extent, whereas MS seem to always be in "reactive" mode. Oh, and there's no real "clear blue water" between the two consoles from a technical point of view - in which case the XBone's ugliness means it's last place, I'll go for something prettier and cheaper. Certainly the crowds around the demo model in my local Argos seemed impressed.
That said, up until Saints Row IV shipped I was a real keen console gamer, since it shipped the XBox hasn't even been switched on.
Nothing. PS4 and Xbox One are two pieces of obsolete hardware, designed for 12 year old arcade gamers who don't know what high-end graphics are. Or in one word: "Toys"
Nothing, console sucks.
The chance of a hypervisor instead of an emulator to play exclusives on PC ;)
I do not even mind buying the Naughty Dog games, I just don't feel like paying 400 quid for a mid-range custom PC to play them on :(
Might get PS3 games cheaper :) Shame about the backwards compatibility, I'm not going to stack a PS3 and a PS4 next to each other.
Maybe get the slim after a die shrink, once I've finished all the PS3 games I want to play (still haven't bought Assassin's Creed 3 yet!).
Most exciting, it's a steam box in disguise. I look forward to someone cracking it :D
Nothing. I can't see myself ever getting a games console. I'd far rather game on a pc.
At £50, games are too expensive, especially when I can buy PC games for £25 or less.
In the same sorta boat! I just spent a bit on a PC a couple of weeks ago (still need to decide on a decent GFX card, have hardly switched it on) but once I do, I think that will be my gaming for a while... and some casual stuff on the existing PS3.
Once a few more decent games on the PS4 pop along, and there is a price drop, and im bored of the gaming Ive done on the PC / PS3 I will buy.
Or maybe i wait for the PS4 slim! :D it's bound to happen! :D
First party sony games.
Nothing. Long live PC gaming.
