I've always found Microsoft's licensing costs fairly transparent... there is much worse out there in terms of hidden gotchas and thumbscrews, Oracle springs to mind.
Most companies pay the tax they are legally required to pay, if the system has more holes than a rusty sieve can you really blame people for using them? I doubt the average man on the street would voluntarily pay more tax if he had a few quid left over...

Nah, at my age you can't rely on memory. So instead I just .... er .... ummm .... what was I going to say?
And are you still paranoid if they are out to get you? And someone is, as the security department at my bank could attest. So far, unsuccessfully.
But essentially, my method is designed to be as secure as I can feasibly get it, while still remaining practical in daily use. That's the balance. If I explained clearly what I mean, you'd more easily understand what I'm on about, as I'm being pretty careful in what I say .... but then, I'd have to ki .... erm, change my method. :D

I was half-joking...
As far as system holes go, yeah I can and do blame them. These are the holes that allow managers to avoid raising employee salaries on teh basis that tehy'd have to pay more tax, while at teh same time allowing shareholder payouts to offset profits (guess who get given shares as part of their employment contract), while these same managers on £800k grant themselves £1.2m bonuses, before taking redundancy payouts and then going to work for the contractor they granted the contract to as they were walking out the door. It's not like they even have to try and cover it up any more, as they know nothing will happen to them.
There's no need for passwords in today's world, as the 'secret' stuff is done right up in people's faces!
Aaaaaaand that's the best I can manage to try and bring this post back on topic! :D
