The real step forward is when Sharp/Samsung/LG can get these display technologies unified in single layer on one side of the phone.

Love the idea but its not quite where I would drop £500+ on it.

I am interested to see where it will go if the big guys get interested

I was thinking this, if you could make a screen with an LCD layer and an e-ink layer, would be awesome.

Re: News - Dual-screen YotaPhone finally goes on sale

Just a warning, the e-ink display isn't a touch screen and you can't use it as your primary display. The two ways to use the e-ink display are to run an app that has been specifically designed for this phone and then using a small touch strip at the bottom for input, or to do a two finger swipe down on the LCD screen to send a screenshot to the e-ink display.

Say you wanted to read a book but your favourite app wasn't available for the e-ink side, you'd have to power up the LCD, turn the page, send a screenshot to the e-ink side, turn off the LCD, repeat for every page turn. I was so excited for this phone until I found that out, I want a device where the e-ink can be a primary display.

Just make sure it doesn't land on the colour display side.

Thats pretty neat, although I'd see more legs in a 7" tablet format. I could stop carting my kindle and nexus 10 everywhere then.

Still waiting for the daylight readable colour screens - 'mirasol' iirc - to take off.

"Both screens are 4.3 inch displays with the back screen mirroring the information on the main screen and it is always switched on."

Better be careful about sexting then...

Or just decent colour e-ink and a phone which unrolls from smething the size of a pen, like the "PDAs" in TekWar
