Planetside 2
I'm still living in 2011 games-wise, still playing Skyrim, BF3 and others. I got FarCry 3 this year, which I'm still playing on and off. I recently got Tomb Raider and Halo 4 with a new XBox 360 "E" on a Black Friday deal from Amazon for £149.99 to replace my very loud long suffering Elite 360... so I'm might get into that soon.

Brothers a tale of 2 sons is my single player game of the year. Dota 2 is my multiplayer one. Though as for AAA's then it has to go to Tomb raider.
I'm pretty firmly a single player/campaign type of guy, so my top five would be (in no particular order):
1. Saints Row IV - for continuing to not take itself seriously, and for having a well deserved pop at all the GTAV hype;
2. Far Cry 3 - intelligent and beguiling. Not convinced by the Blood Dragon expansion - but it's early days (and I got it free courtesy of AMD);
3. Bioshock Infinite - my first Bioshock and I really "got" the story (thanks again AMD);
4. Battlefield 4 - again, like the storyline - seemed to flow in a way that this years Call Of Duty didn't;
5. Rocksmith 2014 - love that they've taken a "game" and turned it into a pretty decent teaching tool - although I still suck at playing my Strat!
Honourable mention for Sleeping Dogs, even though it's last years game, I found it engrossing. If there's a sequel then that's a definite pre-order.
Glad you said that - I though SO:TL was actually pretty darned good - sort of a SP Call Of Duty with some depth to it. Then again, I'm still having the odd blast of Just Cause 2 and that was a 2010 release!
Has to be Far Cry 3. Got It free with my new GPU and was stonked at the game play and graphics.
I recently bought Euro Truck Simulator 2 and that is taking over my life also.
Battle field 4, this game is incredible and looks amazing
I can't really pick a favorite, there's a lot of great games which came out this year.
However I keep finding myself replaying old titles over and over again.
Just 'finished' The Stanley Parable - utter design excellence.
Also very impressed with A Dark Room - http://adarkroom.doublespeakgames.com/ - free to play, wonderful twists. Don't be put off by how simple it looks.
Technically I finished Bioshock for the first time this year, and my God is it good.
My waiting paid off, though... I picked up Far Cry 3, Bioshock Infinite and XCOM for about £15 the lot. Thanks Steam!
Sim city.
The Last of Us.
Simply the deepest, most involving, most satisfying gaming experience I've ever had on any platform. It started off with an extended tutorial section which had me puzzling over the hype. But it soon converted me from being a PC snob to a Playstation fanboy.
Morrowind. I was rather late to that party
Probably Far Cry 3, specially Blood Dragon. My laptop slightly struggles with it but I really do love the storyline!
Path of Exile... Such a great game.
Loved Bioshock Infinite, that was a front runner. Then GTAV came out and made me weep with joy. I actually think the most fun I've had playing a game this year has been Super Mario 3D World multiplayer. Oh so so fun! Worth getting a Wii U for
Really enjoyed Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon. Dead space 3 was also fairly good.
