Depends what you define as a game really.

How do you mean? For example a crossword could be described as a game. Short burst, arcade like games are back big time thanks to to the Apple App and Google Play stores. Steam has also shown Microsoft what it should have been doing for the past 10 years. Since moving mainly to Mac and other Unix platforms I use steam as a way to get cross platform games etc.
With faster broadband you could realistically see Blu-Rays domination come to an end in the same way as CDs have now fallen out of favour to iTunes.

I will continue to purchase cds until I can get the same or higher quality as a download. The other thing is with a download you do not get the artwork.
films continue to get better quality formats where as music people do not seem to care as much which i think is a real shame and will hopefully be sorted.

I think it'll be a while before people ditch the blu-rays, at least until everyone has a pretty fast internet connection.

Re: News - UK video game sales grow for the first time in 5 years
I bought numerous games on Steam this Xmas Sale to the point I achieved Level 2 Snow Globe badge (the red one)! I got the Stanley Parable for £5.99 as well as Braid and Terraria for around the £1.50 mark each.
The majority of my spending went on drastically reduced strategy games like Civ V Complete, Europa Unverisalis IV and Anno 2070, which is complex economically but that's way I like it!
I can't see myself buying boxed games anymore at least for PC and maybe not anymore for my new XBox 360 "E" either since I can just buy games off XBox Live if I want.
P.S - Sleeping Dogs is now free on XBox Live Gold by the way :)

It's a good point. My PS4 has hardly been turned on after the disappointment that was killzone. The steam sale has been some distraction aswell, especially the tomb raider collection and anno 2070. The only games I'm playing on the ps4 are assassins creed and putty squad, both digital downloads.
I also have a large blu ray collection totalling 250ish at a guess, but all are ripped to my NAS as I like the artwork and collecting them but the convenience of the ripped film is there still. My CD collection went ages ago with the exception of a few collectables. Once full hd quality films are as readily available, easy to use and well priced I can see the day I stop buying films conventionally.

Steam and GoG.com have emptied my bank account on more than one occasion lately!!
Records and CDs are another matter - Your favourite artists autograph are unable to autograph an MP3 download!!
