If you have a Bay Trail Atom chip, you may as well run full-fat Windows 8 rather than Android. Unless you're really wedded to certain Android-only apps (which you could run in bluestacks), you still get a portable device with a touchscreen for basic email/reading/video (because who really cared what Os is wrapped around those tasks?), but that you can sit down next to a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and have a full fledged proper computer that can run proper programs and do actual useful stuff.

I don't know, I actually prefer Android as a pure tablet OS. The only thing I find it lacks is native samba support for the rare occasions I need it and there are always apps to get around that (although obviously not as smooth as native support would be).

I see intels problem being that the new quad core ARM processors are more than fast enough for 99% of users and if the intel chips are more expensive I wonder who will actually use them.

If they can get a full x86 chip in a $99 tablet running Android, I can't wait to see what partners come out with in the convertible or 2-in-1 Windows segment.

I still really want an Acer W510, but it's still using the older 2xxx series processor and still a little too expensive.

I'm hoping there are newer, better value models released soon after CES.

£250 bay trail quad core tablets are already out there. I'll be holding off a little while yet though - want to see what happens with the dual core bay trails and AMD's Mullins platform. But as far as use case goes I'm with edzieba: if I'm going to have a tablet that I carry around all the time, I may as well have one that will run every program I've ever used on a PC as well as all the tablety MUI stuff.
